Default is debt consolidation right for us?

Hello,
I would just like to get some input on our situation. We owe quite a bit on our credit cards, about 25,000 We aren't behind on any payments, but making the payments is stretching us pretty hard. We had to short-sell our house so our credit will be damaged, unfortunately. I have been looking at debt consolidation programs and it seems like a good idea. If we did that we would close all our credit cards, of course, so we wouldn't have the same problem again. We are making steps to improve and trying to follow the Dave Ramsey plan. We live in WA state. I am unsure of how to find a reputable debt consolidation company. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Yes you are a great candidate for Consolidation, your accounts are still current and that is a must to enter a consolidation program. Contact state and local agencies for non profit agencies in WA state. This is probably the best way to begin your search for an agency!

This site offers free counseling and if you qualify can refer* you to a reputable credit counseling agency. 800-601-1579

*Till June'07, we had a referral business policy, but post-June'07, we have shifted to a new business model where we earn from advertising. Please go through the 2nd point of our site's Term of usage and conditions of service - Jason
