Hello Gary, Welcome to the forum. And welcome to about 70% of all Americans. Now I don't know if you're happy about this divorce or sad. But it seems to me as the way you worded it....that you might just be a wee sad and possibly feeling isolated....just a guess! It is a very hard thing to go through. However, I have managed to survive 2 of them. And for the most part I guess I am okay. The best advice I can give from experience.....make sure you have your own Lawyer....especially if property and/or children are involved. Because even so-called mutually agreed upon divorces can get very messy sometimes. I really got it put to me with my first divorce because I agreed for us to save money by just letting 1 attorney take care of the process. My thoughts and prayers are with you.....I am usually always lurking around somewhere.....just know that here....you are never alone. God Bless!

Hello Gary ~ As was stated, several of us have been through a divorce and I am also one of them. My brother has also just gone through a divorce. What are you needing to know? I am sure you can get all kinds of advice here and have any debt questions you might have, answered.

Hello Gary-
I went through a divorce in 2000. It was hard but I'm a much stronger person now......Better days are ahead....take it 1 day at a time.

Most definitly get your own attorney. We all want things to go smoothly and sometimes they start out that way, but end up very nasty. Mine did and so has my brother's. In fact, he is dealing with stuff even after his divorce was final. 8 days after it was final, his ex has decided she wants money and has now supeoned (sp) his pay records, his person bank accounts, what he has paid for a concrete slab, a pool he bought used, a motorcyle that he just aquired, what he paid for his car (which is used)over a year ago, wants to know what he made off of selling anyting, and gosh tons of other stuff. She is the one that filed, she is the one that initially wrote the separation agreement (he did have some input) and that agreement was made part of the divorce decree (which states neither were asking for child support or alimoney), she is saying he does not help take care of his child (they have one together and he has a step daughter), but he pays every other week day care, pays for all his daughter's lunches, buys her clothes, helps pay for her medicines, has her on his insurance and even helps with the step daughter's stuff and now she is trying to say he doesn't. She is the one that was running his credit report. But now that is causing him some financial strain due to having to pay out more money to an attorney on something he thought was over and done with. I would say get an attorney and don't try to do it yourself. That way everything is covered.

I'm working slowly on getting it back....I'm also a single mother not getting child support-thats a whole different story.....Everything will be OK....Just do your best. Thats all any of us can do....

Make sure you split the bills, you made them together, you should pay them together.
