Why is it legal for a credit card company to hand over a debt to a collector but it is not legal for a debtor to hand over the debt to someone else for paying it.

Huh?? There are no laws per se stopping a debtor from handing over a debt to someone else to pay.

you can legally assign someone Power of Attorney over your unsecured debt, such as a debt settlement, debt management, consolidation program, etc...

Still doesn't relieve the consumer of the reponsibilty of paying.
