You will have to be very careful in choosing a company. There are many of them who turn out as scammers. Before signing up with anyone, check them thoroughly with your attorney general, BBB and the FTC. They are the places where the consumers will report first if there are problems with any company.
Why not you negotiate with the creditors on your own? You can make them work on your terms and stick to the plan. This might turn out as your best decision in becoming debt free and you won't have to rely on any outside help.
In case you want to shop with some companies, take a look at the ranking chart section in this website.
