A creditor needs to send two things before they can proceeds with a wage assignment. First, they have to send an "intent to assign wages". The intent is mailed to you, and sent certified to the employer. But the employer should not deduct from your check just off of the intent.

20 days after they send their intention notice, they can send a "demand" for your wages. The demand is when the employer starts taking from your check.

BUT, you have 5 days after they send a demand, to file the defense form with your employer.

You should contact payroll, and ask them what they have received. If they did not receive a demand yet, then you should be safe.

Sounds like they are trying to find out where to send the wage assignment. They wouldn't want to send it to your attention; they want to make sure it gets to payroll. Did you send them a revocation letter yet?

As long as you are making regular payments most of your PDL's will work with you. GFSIL and Cash transfer center will probably be difficult, but just be patient, send them what you can.

If you've paid them more then your state legally allows, then just keep sending letters and standing your ground. The treats get worse the longer you hold out, but if you hang in there you will see light at the end of the tunnel.

Anyone can sue anyone, that doesn't mean that they have a case. I was told by my state's AG's office that IPDL's can sue you, but most won't, because then they'd have to go to court and explain to a judge why they are lending illegally. If someone got sued by a PDL most likely that PDL is 100% legal and following all the applicable laws. You have to pay back what you legally owe on each one of your PDL's.

If you do a search for cash transfer centers you will get more info on them. I personally haven't dealt with them, but many others have. Look at those posts and you will get a good idea of what to expect.

Laverne- If you are registered, someone will contact you for your credit counseling. These trained professionals will answer all your questions and help you with whatever you need. Just get all your debts and papers together, and when they contact you, you can ask questions, and they can tell you what your options are...Karen

Laverne--

Who are you referring to saying you have to pay $1600. A credit counselor or a pdl?
