A creditor needs to send two things before they can proceeds with a wage assignment. First, they have to send an "intent to assign wages". The intent is mailed to you, and sent certified to the employer. But the employer should not deduct from your check just off of the intent.
20 days after they send their intention notice, they can send a "demand" for your wages. The demand is when the employer starts taking from your check.
BUT, you have 5 days after they send a demand, to file the defense form with your employer.
You should contact payroll, and ask them what they have received. If they did not receive a demand yet, then you should be safe.
