Companies that follow all the laws in your state can garnish your wages or take you to court over the remaining balance. You need to check for yourself to see if they are legally licensed in your state or not. Do not take the word of the companies, they will lie to you. They will tell you you will be arrested and all sorts of terrible things will happen if you don't pay, but it's just talk.

But if you aren't strong enough to deal with this yourself maybe the best solution would be to hire someone to do it for you. It's more expensive, but then you wouldn't be freaking out.

Read through the threads on how to do things. All of the information is there. If you have a specific question or need more help just start another thread.

Laverne...OF COURSE the PDL's tell you they're legal, but the majority of them ARE NOT. They are liars. They want to get you scared and upset to get you to pay more than you owe.

Tell the attorney general that you have several pdl's that are doing business in MD. Tell them you just discovered that they are illegal in MD. They will tell you what to do. Just tell them the truth.

You want to ask the attorney general what you should do about these illegal loans. They will send you in the right direction.

Just read through the other posts and you will see what info you need.

I have several pdl's:
Payday OK, Payday One, Payday Select, GFS, Speedy Payday, SGQ Processing, Viking Loan, Arrowhead, Midland Marketing, Easy Payday, VC Funding
I live in MN and it looks like none of these are licensed in my state. Payday One may be, but I am not 100% on that. I have stopped payment on these and closed my account and have tried notifying these companies of this only none have gotten back to me to work out repayment plans....I know this is a common practice of them. My only issue is that now I have been contacted by Westbury Ventures and B & A regarding four of these accounts. I don't want to send them a dime because I know my money is lost via moneygram....but they threaten with everything. I have not been threatened with arrest, but they have mentioned fraud and the fact that I am a dishonest person. They don't let me get a word in at all to explain what happened. I know they don't care, they just want their money. But neither company will validate my debts, they said that I have record of this debt on my bank account. I told them they had to validate my debts, but still won't do it. I have filed a complaint with FL AG regarding B & A and now I am waiting on a call back from the Regulator from my state. My only concern is being sued for not sending payments or doing what they ask of me. I have kept all correspondence from Westbury...and this guy is a real trip. He sends generic emails that give me forms for either a cc payment form or a checking account debit form. The emails also list that I have to send money via money gram...but the emails don't actually list my account number or the amount that I have to pay. He has told me to quit making excuses and not waste anymore time. I called and emailed him and left him messages stating that I wasn't making excuses and that I had no problems paying back my debts once they were validated. I told him that I wanted validation to check out what payments I had made and how much interest they were charging me. Does anyone have any suggestions for me or tell me if I am on the right path? I think that I, like others here are scared to send that settlement letter...I am scared of what will happen next. I feel like I don't have the best back bone to stand up to these people, so I am also looking into legal assistance in these matters. Thanks to everyone for help/suggestions.

I don't think it's that people don't want to answer your questions, it's just that not everyone is on the board. We are here to help each other.

Also, the reason your employer doesn't seem helpful is because you keep using the word garnishment. A garnishment is a court order and they have no choice but to comply. Some pdl's use a wage assignment. That is voluntary. If you do a search you will find examples of wage garnishment letters to send. I would send them immediatly.

Also, if you feel that no one is helping you, please register on this site and PM me. I would be happy to answer any of your questions in more detail. Just know that I'm not always on the board, so if I don't answer right away, it's not because I don't want to, I'm just not there.

hi evryone!! i am so glad i found this place! its such a relief to know i am not the only person out there who is hurting and feels stupid for getting in over my head with these pdl companies. i am be doing this for about 4-5 months and got to where i was borrowing from one pdl to pay another then another and before i knew it i had about 9 out at the same time. i got so scared and didn't know what to do. my parents helped me out a little but i still owe a lot of loans on line to GFSIL, cahnet, arrowhead, llc, emerold and they all are calling me 20-30 times a day harassing me and threatening me even at work. i dont know the laws and would like someone to give me some advice. i have closed out my checking account but dont know where to go from here. at first i was so stupid and thought i had to pay these guys and didn't make my car payment for 2 months. now of course i have them breathing down my neck and my cc companies it just never stops. i know it was my own stupidity but know i need some very good advice pleaseeeeeee help.....
