New Email Bank Scam

Message Author
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 11:54 am Subject: New Email Bank Scam

Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that there is a new email bank scam for those of us who use online banking. The email comes to you looking exactly like something from your bank to try to phish your information from you. If you see anything in your email stating that it's from your bank for whatever reason, please don't click on the links it's providing. Instead open a browser window and type in the address you normally use for your bank and then login. If there really is an alert for you from your bank it will also be on your main page when you login to your account. I hope all is well!!

Your welcome. I wasn't sure if it was new or not. I just wanted to get the word out to my fellow community members. We are all here to help each other. My husband just told me about it a few days ago. With all that I have going on I can't remember if he told me before or not. I just remembered it today and most of us here have already lost a lot of money out of our bank accounts from other scams and we don't need to lose more. Smile

This is one of the reasons it took me so long to convert over to online banking.... Finally took that plunge 4 years ago... never have looked back...

Thanks for the heads up....

BTW. I have been getting ALOT of spam/phising from EBAY and Pay-Pay in my email...

Do any of you all have the same problems?

(Jeff pulls out the soap box)

I can't stress Firefox enough. The built-in phishing filter rules. If you click on a link either on the innerweb or in an email, and the site has been flagged as potential phishing, well....let's just say you cannot miss the warning. Smile And if you think the site is potential phishing, just a couple clicks submits it for review.

And should I mention again that I haven't seen any kind of website ad in over 3 years? Oh, I guess I just did.

IE is dead - long live the future of surfing!

Yeah firefox is a good browser. A lot of people are converting over to it these days. Even with the new ie out.

I am a big fan of firefox!!

Thanks for the warning..Even if it isn't new everyone can definitely benefit from a reminder now and then. Another thing..We all need to remember that our bank would not email us asking for info like ssn or account number! They have all that!

The new IE is a total bloat hog, and still 18 months is the past.

LMFAO! Why do they have to talk smack? They got away with a td..(last one..did NOT have control of the ball), plus I saw 1 face mask and at least 1 pass interference that wasn't called. LOL, screw my book, I should be a ref! I'd be so dirty!!

Who the heck are the Pats to talk about cheating after their spy cam!! Shocked
