I took out a loan w/ Cash Today Ltd back in January of 2007 for $225. Since then I have paid over $400 in extension charges. I froze my account last week and have since been receiving calls from them on my cell. I just called the collections department and spoke with 3 different people, all of whom I asked to mark my account PIF and went over how I have paid them what I owe them legally and that my account is frozen and I will not be giving them any more money. They all said I still had an outstanding balance of $220 but they can give me discount if I sent them a money gram for $200, and they'd mark me PIF. HA! I said no, they were not getting any more out of me and they can try to pull tricks and waste their time calling me but I knew they couldnt take any legal action. I also told them I was filing a complaint with Florida's attorney general and my attorney would be contacting them. The final person ("manager") I spoke with said they have an attorney as well and if that's the road I want to take than fine. They also informed me someone would be calling me every single day unless I paid them. I said I wouldnt answer. He pretty much said "OK" and hung up on me.
I am wondering how long it will take for them to stop harassing me. Do they attempt to garnish wages? Or what other actions might they take in order to collect the $220 they think I "owe" them??

Thank you! Laughing

Ok first things first, send them a letter revoking any voluntary wage assignment you may have signed, send a copy to your employer payroll dept. Next thing you should do is close that account and open a new one! And finally, the best course of action I found with these companies and their calls is to IGNORE THEM! Do not answer them, if you do answer them tell them you are unavailable. After a few weeks of this they will realize that they are not going to get you so they tend to give up. Then they only call like once a month. then they stop altogether

Jennyr, you are dealing with one very painful company. Cash Today are big jerks. I don't know how long it will take before they leave you, but make sure that you don't send them one more dime. They are not licensed in your state and have no permissible rights to charge interests and fees. Keep filing your complaints with the DA's office and the FTC. I hope you get off their back soon.

I really hope it does happen soon and you won't have to deal with all of their craps. Do a search on them here and you will read many negative posts posted by other people.

Jennyr2,

Rollovers (extensions) are not permitted in Florida. I hope you did file a complaint with your AG. Let Cash Today know that you know your state laws and that they are operating illegally. Definitely do not pay them any more money. Leah is right. Ignoring them is the best way to get them to go away. Good luck.

Thanks. I'm definetly going to ignore them. My payroll dept. has been informed of the situation and will contact me before turning over any wages - i also let payroll know wages can't be garnished w/o court order. My co worker & I answer all of the phone lines here & she knows to ignore them/tell them I don't work here. Hopefully they will disappear soon!
