I have recently enrolled in the fairhaven debt program. I am not sure of how it works either. I speak to them on a regular basis, because I don't want to get ripped off. I am a little disturbed about the fee they charge monthly, the only thing I can do is hope for the best and believe that they will do what they say, still questioning myself if it the right thing to do.

I can't believe all the negative bolgs, I've been using Fairhaven for about a year and a half and I'm quite satisfied with their service. They have done the job they said they would.

"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." I thought of using them, but not after reading all of the comments!

I can only said, I was in doubt of using them. However I found good reviews and after 1 year of savings I have settled two of my three debts... saving more than 50%. One account with Bank of America was settled at 20%. You have to be strict with yourself when it comes to saving because is you not them that will pay this debt. I recommend them to anyone. Great support!

All of these debt settling compaines are the same, they tell you to stop paying your bills, then you get late fees and possibly over-limit fees added onto your balances while you wait for them to get you into deep enough water that maybe the creditor will settle. You have to pay them quite a bit to do this for you so the savings is not great, meanwhile you have to answer the phone as they call 10-20 times a day and get more aggressive by the day. It is a total headache. Then, if you do get a cc company to settle with you, you still have to pay (just less than owed) but it severely damages your credit rating, making it extremely difficult to obtain credit as if you had gone bankrupt. Also, they can still come after you for years sending letters from attorneys who still try to collect the unpaid debt from you AND make you pay TAX on the money you didn't pay as it is considered income. It is a nightmare.. just work with your creditors yourself, ask for lower apr's and just pay minimum payments until you pay off your card. These programs just make everyone else money and don't save you any money in the end. It can be a nightmare. Don't believe they hype. The debt doesn't magically go away, the cc companies don't forget you and your credit report gets damaged until you repair it through good credit payments for years after.

If there is anyone out there from Alaska that has used this company for debt relief, please let me know what your thoughts and experiences have been. It's difficult to determine whether or not they are a good company to go with. The BBB gave them an F rating. Their web site has only three testimonials too. Needs some helpful input. Thanks.

I've been working with them for about 6 months now and so far I think they're great. Almost all of the phone calls have stopped both at home and at the office.

So far I have no complaints. I don't know what the other folks on this site are going through or why they are not happy. So far they have treated me fine and seem to be doing what they advertise. At this point I feel that I'm getting what I'm paying for.

This is so stupid. Every single recommendation on this company is coming from an unregistered GUEST!

It's obvious the company n question is a complete fraud, so enough already.

I'm glad that I searched first as I just told these people to proceed with my debt relief. I just called them and canceled.

What they do is first have you stop paying your credit cards. They will not do anything with your credit cards for 6 months. You will receive phone calls and letters they told me because of not paying those bills as instructed by Fairhaven. They said that all letters should be routed to them so they can handle it. This is what Fairhaven wants because they claim that negotiating the bills down to a low amount will be easy as the credit card company will be fearing bankruptcy on your part since you have went so long without paying them.

Fairhaven will have you open a checking account in your name that you will put your money into that account that fairhaven will be withdrawing as a payment towards your credit card. The only thing that I didn't like was that I had to wait 6 months before I found out what the credit cards actually settled for.

This sounded all so wonderful until I checked out their rating at the Better Business Bureau. I originally attached the site for all to see but this site told me to remove it. Go to BBB in California and type in their address. Here is the grade they gave Fairhaven exactly from the BBB website:

F We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices.
