Bad choice if you do not have bad credit. They want you to stop paying your bills so the C/C will agree with some kind of plan for you to pay off your bills. Why would you want bad credit when you dont even have it as of yet.Take my advice.....go to American Consumer credit counseling and read up on thier web site. They are very good and costs 99% less then these hibs. Also, if you do not go with them expect a ton of junk mail in your home mail box from all thier friends for about 2 years

You people know all of theese companies are for profit and they only settle you accounts for you which your creditors will do with you anyway for free. You need to ask you creditors if they have these options for you before you run off and waste your money with these rip off consolidators. Creditors have low apr programs and settlements to help you with the debt .... lets get smarter people

Sub: #68 BBB Rating of Fairhaven
Replied on 09-30-2008, 08:36 AM

As many people have pointed out, the BBB gives Fairhaven an "F" grade. But, you have to look at the explanation, which is an "OR" statement:

We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices.

So, it could just be that "the company's industry is known for its fraudulent business practices." If you actually read the report for Fairhaven, it says that they have responded to complaints.

I have not used Fairhaven, but am considering it. The complaints I have seen on here seem to be from people mad that they lacked the self-discipline to save the money rather than spend it.

I have searched the FTC website and find nothing on Fairhaven or Victor Luke/Luquin. I have also looked up Victor Luke on the website for the California Bar Association (lawyers). He has no complaints against him.

So, do your homework, but don't be scared off by illogical arguments.

negotiate a settlement around .40 on the dollar. certified Counselor with lawers.

all and all its the same principle people are doing to get rid of there homes that they are negitive in , they call that a short sales. the banks dont want you to forclose so they settle for something which is better than nothing.

I was an employee of Fairhaven Law Group for a little over a year. I believe it is a crooked company. They do not care about the lives they destroy or the families they ruin. This company goes by many names.. Fairhaven Law Group, YDebts, Choice One and Luke & Smeberg. Not to mention in the office they hang "fake signage". There is a fake real estate license as well as phony mortgage documnets... Did I mention that its not a real estate company?? Bottom line go with a company you can trust! With a local office so you can see for yourself what goes on behind those doors. This company is one big scam. You can do better credit repair on your own!!!

I went with a debt settlement company and in the end they did not do anything for me that I could not have done my self. The lady that i worked with even told me to pull out of the program because she was not able to get them to settle for any less than I was she did help me settle one for 40% of what i owed but they offered me the same deal if i was not working with her.

Well I did think about FLG ad obviously found this site which I so appreciated. I currently am in with Take Charge America (non profit debt counseling co). They take all but like $ 6.00 a month. They payment though a bit high it is fair. They did get my apr's reduced with the creditors. The comment about fully trusting the BBB is correct, but the F rating money or no money is not favorable. The comment of responsibility. Obviously we all have issues with it otherwise we would not all be in this boat. But responsibilty is to pay the debt one acrued and not get out of it. The easy way out will not teach responsibility. I guess I will opt to stay with what I have but like I said all the comments are much appreciated good and bad. The positive statements explained to me I do not want to further ruin my credit nor duke out the debt in court only bc of the fear of bankruptcy. For that one should just file bankruptcy. And the negative comments for proving me withbetter tools to make a wise educated decision.

The "F" rating is really scary.
So is this article here
google smartcreditinfo and their article on 'debt settlement'
it will scare the beejezus out of you.
i certainly don't look forward to 3 years of non-stop calls, threats, lawsuits and then owing taxes on the debt settled

I also used to work there. The owner is Simon Akhaven. Fairhaven and YDebts are the same company. He started a dummy law firm to avoid having to get licenses. He is a very dishonest and mean person. He fires bookkeepers all the time for no reason. I assume he doesn't want them to know too much about his crooked companies. He must pay the poor lawyer on the web site to take all the risk an the fall when he gets caught by the Bar association and the FTC.

Fairhaven is an illegaly structured law firm. It is run by a con artist name simon Akhaven. He is not evaen a lawyer. It is illegal for non attorneys to own a law firm. I wish the Calif. Bar would investigate them. They market illegaly also.

I recomended Fairhaven Law Group to a friend. The guy who I recomended the program to came across this BLOG and told me about some of the negative stuff being said. I can only comment on what my experience was. I went with them back in Nov of 05. I had $43,000 in credit card debt and as of August of this year all my cards have been settled and paid off. It was not an easy thing, but I did what they told me and now I am free of credit card debt. I suppose that makes me a happy client.

Fairheven sucks bad they help with nothing and just get you more behind. Calls still continue and all they do is the same thing you yourself can do call the credit card companies and see if the will settle with you before you try a debt free place. Most companies will settle with you for half the amount you owe with little to no interest and a reasonable monthly payment. If you cant get the companies to settle with you i would then try Greenpath they are not a debt free place they actully pay your bills monthly what you can afford they will even figure out food gas all your utilities and you make one payment to greenpath they then dispence out the amounts. And most importantly clearly if we are looking at a debt free place we cant afford yet another payment greenpath is completely free if you are a crdit union member and if not thier service fee is $25.00 a month wish is way better then anywhere else. Greenpath has done great wonders for me and others i know. They will also pay shut off notices first which is nice. I hope this helps
