I am in the process of cancelling with them. I didn't realize that they take 90% of the payment for their services and only 10% gets credited to your account for your credit card. so out of over $5000, my escrow account for credit card payment is a little of $500 after a year.

Allegro started pulling my payments in Sept. I have tried to call them ever since and have NEVER gotten someone on the phone. I call and sit on hold until the disconnect me. My Verizon minutes have been "over" for the last 3 months. What the heck do I do!??? I tried emailing them that I needed to talk to someone and then 2 weeks later I got a random letter saying that they understand that I wish to terminate and they would no longer pull my payments. What!? So now I have even more questions....How do I get ahold of someone to gt me back in, or more importantly where is the money of mine that they already took out!??

This is bizzarre to me. I sent the Allegro receiver an email recently to inform him that (partly due to Allegro) I will soon be filing bankruptcy and to please cease any attempts at debt settlement on my behalf. According to his latest post, he can't start the claims process until some decision from the courts is made, or something on that order. Anyway, he forwarded my email to the Allegro office in New York (if its really there) and I actually got a response!!! Nothing but a bunch of what Allegro does best..BS. Gave them a piece of my mind at: dscs@allegrolawfirm.com. If this isn't the address you've tried, try this one. Good luck!

I've been using them for about a year now, they take 60 bucks for a fee, and the rest goes torwards my debt. Auto withdraw every month, I don't mind the fee, because it's hassle free to me, so far they have done exactly what they are meant to do.

This is a horrible company. The represenitives on the phone whom you first talk to would sell you their leg if they could. But then there is nobody. You can't get anyone on the phone and when you do they arn't from the law firm and have no advice or answers. Absoliutly nothing was done for us debt-wise and we are now being sued by credit card companies, and they will garnish us, and the law firm who is supposed to be "HELPING" us will still take the same amount of money from us and keep it. The first many payments go directly to the fees. And now they won't take any call after we cancelled with them and will not refund our retainer we've accumulated for the creditors. We are now filing Bankrupcy, sould have done this to begin with.

I am torn and don't know which is the best way to go. So much negative stuff on here about debt settlement that it has me scared to go that route.

Fellow anon here, just trying to figure out what's up. I enrolled in the debt management plan almost a year ago, and for almost all year, everything was fine. Chunk of money went to my cards, minus the $59 fee to Allegro, I was cool with that.

News of the receivership happening was eyebrow-raising, but everything continued on as it was.

Now I'm checking my statements, and payments aren't going through. I thought the receivership wasn't supposed to make things worse. Contacting Allegro sounds like a lost cause, but trying to contact Louis Colley (phone, email) is worse than talking to the wall. (The wall might not reply either, but at least it doesn't leave the room to avoid questions.) Any kind of message is met with an auto-response of what's on the receivership's site, copied verbatim.

I know it's nothing compared to what you folks in debt settlement are going through. Good luck.

Allegro law took money from my 75 year old father to pay his bills then paid only the small balance credit cards. For two years he thought they were paying his bills untill he received papers that he was being sued. He retained an attorney only to find out the were in Chapter 11 and he was out $4500. This should not be allowed to happen to our elderly

Hey Allegro Law scammed comrades...I got an email from that guy appointed to be in charge of the receivership of Allegro Law...as I have sent him numerous emails (and highly encourage you all do the same and keep on bugging the guy), stating that he cannot do anything with the negotiating of my pending debt, for which money I sent Allegro Law and cannot for anyone that is not "current with payments to Allegro Law".... can you believe his guts? thinking that we were to continue senting money to this dead horse under receivership and once we had already learned that Allegro had acknowledged 10% of what we had sent them to go under our escrow and pocketing the other 90% - not to mention that when I did the math, on the last call I got answered from Allegro - the kind of money these crooks were expected was twice or three times the amount owed to the credit card......replied to that receiverships email, stating that he needs to go and work for us in a much better manner as he was appointed by a high court to fight for the monies Allegro had scammed us of and come back with a much better answer, instead of being crook number two in line - on the same topic. Please back a couple pages and find this email and keep on hammering this guy with demands and be relentless on it....maybe, just maybe, f we do not let this issue die, we can recover some of our money...... this is the information we all found posted on the scam by Allegro Law mddle of 2009....all that have been scammed, please send emails ona routive basis to this guy appointed by the high court...by the tone of his one reply to me, he may be "Allegro Law Jr", as he seems to thin that we need to continue sending payments to Allegro - even as they were under and held under receivership due to their fraudulent ways of conducting business...he must be nuts thinking that any of us will continue to send these f....crooks more money - most of us cut our losses and went on....my one debt is still unpaid as I sent them all the money destined for this reason. Pulled one of the debts and I actually settled and paid if off by less than half directle with the owner of the debt (Bank of America), got a letter of clearance from them after it was all paid off and it no longer is reflected on my credit.....so, please join me to continue sending emails to this guy....... Allegro Law Claims

STATEMENT OF RECEIVER

Allegro Law, LLC has been placed in Receivership by the Circuit Court of Autauga County, Alabama as a result of an action filed by the Attorney General of the State of Alabama along with the Alabama Securities Commission. Louis C. Colley has been appointed receiver of Allegro's funds and ongoing business under the supervision of the Circuit Court. All records are currently being reviewed in order that each client may be protected to the fullest extent. It is anticipated that a debt management plan will be continued for the benefit of the client according to the agreements already in place. Debt settlement plans are currently being evaluated to see if proposals have been accepted by creditors and to determine if a settlement can be reached on behalf of the client. A claims process will be established for refunds of any funds available and not used on behalf of a client. This website will be continually updated to provide further information and eventually the claims procedure will be posted on this site. I understand your concern and assure you we will work through this process as quickly as possible for the benefit of all clients.

This is the lastest update from the receivership's office regarding Allegro Law. After reading the post, please email or contact his office don't call the 800 # because all you will get is an answering machine call his office direct at (334)365-1500 you won't get him, but his secretary will answer the phone, answere your questions and take your information, she is very nice.

1/6/2010 - Update 1-6-2010
UPDATE 01-06-2010
Now that the receivership case has been remanded from Federal Court to State Court, a hearing has been set on January 25th, 2010. At this hearing it is anticipated the Court will address any challenges the owners of Allegro Law may have concerning the establishment of the receivership. If the receivership remains in place, the process will begin for establishing a refund procedure. There are not enough assets available for a complete refund of client payments. An accounting is ongoing to determine what potential refunds are available.
As stated in the past, debt management agreements are continuing unless the client terminates those agreements and some debt settlements are being accomplished.
A new update will be posted on January 26tth, 2010.
