Are debt settlement firms viable? I woe $70,00 in credit card debt and paid an attorney $900 but he could not work out a CH 13 that allows me to keep my home. I now have only soc sec income. What can I do?

There are several that are reputable. You can look through the ranking chart above or call the 800 number to the side. Any company that you find search the BBB for them before making the final decision on who to go with.

Definitely research several debt settlement companies to see if you qualify for one of their programs. In addition to reviewing the BBB, also check out the International Association of Professional Debt Arbitrators website. This should be very helpful in answering a lot of your questions.

Since you resistered with the site, you should get a call from a professional counselor within a few days. They will explain options to you and point out reputable companies. Definitely ALWAYS check out their reputation! Good luck!
