I have a credit card with First Premier Bank, and of course I fell behind on my monthly payments b/c of being caught up in the pdl mess. A lady from this company left a voicemail on my home phone yesterday while I was at work. I called my home # and checked my messages while I was on my lunch break, so I called her back. She told me that if they didn't receive a payment by 2pm yesterday, my account was going to charge off. I was telling her that I was at work and I couldn't do anything right then. She had the nerve to tell me to leave work early and get that payment in there Yeah right!! It just pissed me off that they expect people to do what they tell them. I know I'm behind on payments, but I also have a job to do.

I have one with them also, and last week when hey called me for the third time they told me to borrow the money from someone! I told them that I was filing bk and to contact my attorney. I hated that card because of the fees that they charge online and over the plone to pay the bill. It's like making a purchase to pay. My attorney said that is one card you should run from.

I had a card with this company myself. I told them when I would pay, and made a payment arrangement with them. They continued to call me at home (they did stop calling my workplace when I asked them to), and the last call I received was a message stating "this is my last call to you to attempt to get this worked out. If the account isn't paid in full by 1/23, I will no longer be able to help you." This, regardless of the payment arrangements I made with them. I am paying the card off and closing the account.

I applied for one of those cards and after researching on the forum I cancelled it before 90 days. It does seem like the fees are outrageous. I just decided to stick with the one I have they are reporting great to the credit bureaus with no problem and no fees. KYSIDE38

Kyside, you're right. The fees are outrageous. My son is 18 and without my knowing it, took out a credit card with them. He had a $150 limit (thank God it was so small). He took this loan out while he was working. He quit his job to be on the basketball team at school and is to pay $10 a month. He finally told me about it when he fell behind one month. All together, they told him he had to come up with $84 dollars ($75 to include the late fee and the $10 regular payment and $9 to pay over the phone!). Unbelievable! I told him he's going to shovel snow or something to pay the $10 a month ON TIME until after basketball season is over. I told him then he needs to get a job and pay it off so he can close the account. Once again, KIDS!

My advice is that you make a small payment on the account. Pay as much that you can afford now. The account will get current and you won't have a charged off reported in your credit report by First Premier Bank. Charged off gets R9 rating. One small payment can stop it from being reported. Once this is done, try to work out payment arrangements. Your most important concern is to not let FPB report "charged off" in your file.

I would also try to send them a small payment. I had one of their credit cards a long time ago. I didn't have a big balance but it seemed like to took forever to pay them off because of the start up fees and all the other fees. I guess I should have read the fine print better. I was just happy to get a credit card at the time. I guess you live and learn.

Brown Sugar, I had the same problem with them. Let me tell you what they did to me.
Because of their annual fee which they claimed they told me about in a previous statement, they had me go over $48. Add to that they charged me $30 for going over. Add to that the additional $20 which is the regular monthly fee. It had my account go over $103.00. My bill was not due until the 11th of the next month. They called every day seeking payment and charged off my account before I had to chance to make the payment. Even one of those fine individuals told me that I have to pay it now or else.
I said my bill was not due until the 11th. They said that on a charge off it is due immediately. I paid the bill on 11th and guess what? My account miracuously wasn't on charge off anymore. But they will call you and harass you all day.
Brown Sugar, they were going to place your account in charge off anyway and as soon as you paid the bill, they took it off. That's the way that scum works. When I get through with these PDLs, I am targeting my credit cards next. And I am only keeping one. My goal is to be debt free this year. I am sticking to it.

My goal is to be debt free also. It just pissed me off when this lady demanded that I leave work early and go do a Western Union. She even asked if I could use personal time to leave work early and go take care of the matter

ACA Recovery did the same thing to me. Wanted me to leave from my job and send them a payment via Western Union.

I think the lady is just bluffing with the chargeoff bit. Most places have a set policy for when they actually chargeoff an account- be it 90 days or 120 days, etc. They throw "chargeoff" around like a threat, when really it means they failed at doing their job and they had to expense it as bad debt, which screws up their financial statements.
I wish I would have had a collector ask me to leave work early to go make a payment - I would say "Being as that I am on an hourly wage, and you want me to leave work 3 hours early to make a payment, at $20/hour, do you plan to credit my account $60 to make up for lost time and wages? If not, my answer is no."

I also hold this card for the sole purpose of establishing credit again. but by not charging anything and paying $5 every month over the minimum payment I have managed to bring this from a severe 9 on my Credit Report to a middle 5. There annual fee is ridiculous, and if your late they tag on so many charges almost impossible to catch up. I want to get it to a zero balance, and request for them to waive that annual fee....if not i will close it, even though I know closing a acct will hurt my score...i'm not paying them $50 a year for $300 credit.

Debtcruncher,
I wonder what they would say if someone asks them that LOL! I've had a CA ask me to borrow money from friends, family, whatever it takes. I wanted to ask him if I should stand on the street corner for the money but didn't since the call was being recorded LOL!.
