Maybe reading the complaint and what the issue orders were based on and compare that to what the company does. The law suit is accusing them of acting as cccs and that not what they do. That suit will fall soon and you'll see for yourself. this site is a sham....

About to turn $27,000.00 in credit card debt over to Freedom Debt Relief. Just happened upon your site. This is a bad idea, I guess? It sounded great and I was very excited! I haven't paid my credit cards for 5 months and all the credit card companies are saying I only have a few more days to work with them. What to do? Is FDR not good? F with BBB and 200 some complaints? Please help. Soon!

FDR has served over 75,000 clients and have only 200 or so complaints. FDR's BBB complaint ratio is less than that of the California Bar Association along with many top financial institutions. Frequently, BBB complaints are the result of not understanding how the FDR program works. Please contact FDR to further discuss this issue.

In general people have had success with what ever plan they went wtih. Just research the heck out of it first!

I went with Freedom Debt relief and let me let you in on some thing about this whole debt settlement issue. My accounts was with Chase, BofA, Target and they stated to me no problem we can handle this and it has been about 2 years. As I have been reviewing my account for the last 2 years the amount of money paid into the program is enought to hire a lawyer or settle out one of my cards by myself. In addition to this Chase slapped a lawsuit against me in regards to this matter increased my balance like crazy. (Chase is not working with debt settlement companies anymore so watch out and other companies will follow). To me basically they did nothing for me NOTHING!!! I had to work with the lawyers of Chase before going into court and agreed to a post judgement. Plus under the advise of my attorney friend is if they won the judgement against me it would have been worst off for me because of wage garnishments and even levies on my bank account (that is why they want you to open a out of state account). I still had to face the judge and say that we did a post judgement and agree to there terms. The judge yesterday said to me just pay my credit cards on time because he has seen a lot of people and they have no saying why they stopped paying for there credit cards. He also did mention using a debt settlement company is no excuse.
I can only imagine the amount of money FREEDOM DEBT has made on consumers struggling with this matter. When an account goes legal then good luck to you and basically you are stuck on your own. Then in most cases people will file for bankrupcy just to save themselves from court (since Freedom does not offer legal consultants). Plus they work on volume if every person has a trust account that get debted a $100 fee per month and they have 500 customers then the amount of money they will be making from you for the next 2 1/2 years is crazy.
In additional for those who they have settled for (example $80,000 settled for $40,000) then you will recieve a 1099 at the end of year. How can you explain to yoour accountant on how you made that much in interest?

My advice to everyone is do not go to Freedom Debt reliefor any other debt settlement company because it is total lip service. They should be stopped for bad business practices and for lying to consumers. Handle your ownmatters wih your credit cards because they have hardship programs that will help you as a consumer.

Good Luck.

A small number of accounts do go to legal status and FDR is fortunate to have an internal team to work and negotiate these accounts. In addition is possible for a client to receive a 1099 as a result of savings in excess of $600.00. FDR openly discloses the fact prior to enrolling in the debt settlement program. FDR takes all complaints seriously. If you feel that FDR has not properly serviced your account please contact customer service to further discuss this issue.

I had over $45,000 in credit card debt due to a divorce and with the late fees and interest bounces I was paying over $1800 a month and was getting those annoying calls morning noon and night and I was looking at bankruptcy. A friend had gotten a call from this company and wasnt interested but he gave me the name after I'd told him what was going on and i found them on the web. I called and found out that they weren't a debt settlement company but they were a referral service for a group of law firms who specialized in debt settlement. I talked to one of their reps and I enrolled about 7 months ago, they put me in a 36 month program at $707 a month. less than a week after I enrolled I got a call from my attorney and a letter from them and within 2 months the collection calls stopped and they have already paid off 2 of my smaller accts. The first program I looked into sent me form letters to send to mt creditors myself...this lawyer sent them out for me! The rep told me there were no "OUT OF POCKET OR ENROLLMENT FEES" I said bull&*%T but he wasn't lying. I'm saving about 45% of the $45,000 and I'm not paying any interest...I was pitched by a bunch of companies but this was the only one who offered full attorney representation and told me
"the attorneys get their first dime when you make your first payment and get their last when you finish"
Its k8ind of like I hired my own attorney to do this for me, they called me last week and said" WE SETTLED YOUR &^%#@ aACOUNT FOR 30% WE NEED YOUR OK TO RELEASE THE FUNDS FROM YOUR ACCOUNT AND SETTLE THE DEBT"
I haven't found anything wrong yet, I even talked to the owner a guy named Chris Miranda when there was a paperwork mixup the rep couldn't figure out he was great, talked to me for 20 minutes and called me a week later to make sure everything was OK.
Check these guys out I did the BBB thing and even talked to the main law firm before I signed up and its been great JMHO...

Actually, many dont need a debt settlement company because this is something the debtor can do for themselves.
The collection agency just wants the money, they don't care who it comes from.

If you aren't able to pay, just don't communicate with them until you are able to pay. This , I know, isn't the best advice for all, but for some it may be their current only option until they can save up some money.

Do not trust them. Yes, they promise 30 months debt free, they promise settling 50% of your debt, but in the end...your credit started in the 700's and now it isn't good enough to get cable, you are now not only paying FDR, you are paying the law firms that FDR failed to mention that they don't talk to 3rd party members (FDR), you are in court for delinquent accounts, the payments that you were making towards your credit cards in the beginning is the same amount 2 years later, the amount of debt on your cards increases by $2,000 because they haven't been paid for 2 years, kiss your savings good-bye, FDR has your $2,000 and you still have creditors calling!!!
Go to your bank and talk to them. FDR is the biggest scam...actually all debt consolidation companies are scams!!! You can settle your own debt with the same deal FDR would get.
FDR - thanks for ruining my credit and my financial life.
You should be so proud!!!

I work for FDR and we are able to obtain great settlements for our clients as you can see on our website. We also are very committed to settling our client’s debts in a short period of time for as little money as possible. Because every clients program is different both our client saving percentages and length of the program are estimates. Although we are very confident in our abilities that we have an amazing service guarantee. If you feel you have not been serviced properly please contact FDR's customer service department.

My husband and I made the mistake of running up a credit card with a $14,000 limit with a decent interest rate. Then the company repriced us and jacked up the interest rate to almost 29%. We were throwing away a bunch of money every month and never getting anywhere. Because I worked for a credit card company I knew that (at least the company I worked for) they don't have programs to help people who are current. So, we put those payments that we would have made away for six months. It did put us behind and is affecting our credit. But we won't need a new car or a new home loan and we have learned our lesson with credit cards and we don't use them. if we can't pay for it right then we don't buy it. I just called the credit card company today in response to a letter threatening legal action. I paid the past due payments and they knocked off over six grand in interest and penalties which brought us down to around $7000 at a .9 % til the rest of the loan is paid. We set up a reasonable per month payment. Our credit report will start showing current on that loan by next month. I guess what I'm saying is your credit is still screwed by dealing with debt consolidation anyway so why not take care of it yourself. I have never seen debt consolidators get that good of a rate for customers that I talked to in my job. To be fair, this was for only one credit card and we weren't in bad financial shape.

I work at a collection agency for one of the top creditors in the world, they dont like working dsa(debt settlement company) b/c your paying a 3rd party, a monthly payment when you could be paying them, 2nd, you monthly payment is going to the dsa fee for awhile, then your credit situation gets worse and you dont know b/c of the poa the dsa sends to the creditors. Your better off stop paying your credit cards, and saving the monthly payment til you can settle for 35 or 40%, maybe over 5 or 6 payments too. Dsa companies are a good way to get sued b/c creditors hate them, citi credit cards forward your account to an attorney has soon has they know your paying a dsa.....that means macy ccards, etc....anything w/ citi backing.......dsa's are worst then car salesmen....and that is the truth

Two years ago, I was in financial dire straits. I looked into one at a local agency and came to the conclusion that filing bankruptcy was my best option. It came down to a choice between living on peanuts for the next 6 years, paying an additional $4,000 and still having poor credit, or having extremely poor credit for 6-8 years without the additional fees. Neither was a good scenario, but I chose the less painful one.(Link Removed by Shazzers as solicitations are against TOS rules)
