Freedom debt relief is the nations largest debt settlement firm period. Nobody is perfect, when you have more than 40000 clients enrolled, I think 68 complaints is not bad at all, in fact it is an achievement. I have personally know a friend who finished the program, it was not a cake walk. It had its up and downs, but at the end he saved more than 9500K!. I think the problem here is that people do not understand what they are getting themselves into. When you have riled up 28K in debt, there is no easy way out. Any program except for a loan, is going to effect your credit in one way or the other. Debt settlement is not for everyone, it was primarily designed for folks who cannot afford their minimums and are contemplating bankruptcy. Bankruptcy laws are tough, and the Chapter 13 form of a bankruptcy is nothing but a court decided repayment plan. Why would somebody tarnish their report with a bankruptcy, when a debt settlement company can get you debts paid off in 12-36 months. Also, I see conflicting statements about the duration of the program. Keep in mind that be it Consumer credit counseling or Debt Settlement, it all depends on how much you can save monthly. The more you save the faster you can finish the program and a lot depends on the mix of your creditors. This forum is a direct competitor to Freedom Debt Relief, no wonder you wonly see negative comments here.

Freedom debt relief is a good company but they are not even close to being the largest settlement company. That honor belongs to Credit Solutions of America " of course they suck though ".

This forum is open to all opinions. I think a majority of the people that post here have no financial interests in any debt management company including the one mentioned above or its competitiors. I think you will find a very large range of representation from many differtent backgrounds if one were to survey all the different people that post here.

I have done business with FDR. I do not recommend them to anyone. I had $18,000 in debt. They sent me paper work I signed,(dumb me) had contract for $11,000 pay back, at $350 per month for 30 mo. At the 26th mo and 27th mo I went to court for two of the credit cards, that FDR was suppose to be talking care of, so I could enjoy restful nights. At the 30 mo I contacted them as to a pay off. I had six original debts, they paid of the two small ones, the other four they had not. My bills jumped from owing $18,000 to $23,000 on there plan. They tell you that they can't work with all creditors. I have since walked away, and am dealing with my debt on my own. If my credit was getting ready to go in the dumper, FDR did the final flush for me. Remember you can only do what you can do. I have managed to settle one of the four debts, I got back. So I am down to 3.

I actually work for Freedom debt relief and I think we are a great company helping thousands of people. I don't know who mostly posts on these chats, but here is one perspective.

We are one of the largest, and the owners of the Company preach constantly about ethics and about taking care of our clients. Our average customer service hold times are less than 10 seconds, our service levels average 95% and we settle about $15 million in debt per month.

As an employee, I'm proud of this Company and we won a spot as a Best Places to Work in Phoenix and San Francisco (I don't think a place that cares that much about its employees and clients can be bad).

I know that a lot of people take shots at anybody, but if I had debts and needed help I would call Freedom Debt Relief way before I contacted anyone else.

That's the truth.

FDR is awful, we've been with then for a year now and nothing has been resolved with our debt. they won't call us back and now we are receiving court papers from the companies we owe. When we talk to a "negotiator" they tell us that these companies are asking for our account info and place of employment. Why? so they can garish our wages because they're not doing what we signed up for. they are a waste of time and money

Freedom calls me just about every month to check in and make sure things are going well, they settled two of my accounts already and I've saved more than I expected. I'm glad I picked Freedom.

Look, debt stinks. But these people whining about having to pay something, or getting a collection call. What do you think? You got into debt. You chose a company to HELP you as a partner get out. You are getting out of debt.

Take some responsibility for your own actions. Getting out is no walk in the park, but it's better than being in debt for the next 30 years and it looks like I am going to get out in about the time freedom told me and for less than what I expected. Yeah, it's not fun. Yeah I wish I didn't have debt. But I'm glad I have someone on my side, at last.

I'm also willing to look in the mirror and admit that I own the problem, no one else but me. I can also say I'll never let myself get into this problem again.

Yeah, I can take a few collection calls. I just can't take the stress of not being able to pay my bills and getting harassed without a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm going to sign up for fdr tomorrow. they've been honest and I was told by my attorney that I cannot file Chapter 7, so it is my only option.

Before going with any company, be sure and check them out. You can not only check them out with the BBB, but in some states, your attorney general can help you. Use the search feature at the top of this page and see what others are saying about the company you are thinking of..karen
