How do I find out the original debtor? The garnishment is from a 10 year old debt. Is there any way to stop it after it has started?

The information should be in your credit report. Have you checked the copies from all the bureaus?

If the garnishment is valid, you will have to pay in full. The county clerk will enter a Satisfaction of Judgment in the court record and the item will be updated in your credit copy.
