Are you looking for info on debt consolidation or debt settlement?
If you are interested in consolidating your debts, you will have all your accounts combined under one payment plan. You will send payments to the consolidation company and they will post it to all creditors included in the plan. You pay the principal amount at lower interest rates with most of the fees waived off.
In case, you want to settle your debts, the accounts need to be delinquent for few months before the settlement company will start negotiating with your creditors. They will explain that you are in no situation to pay the debts at the existing rates. Hence, they will propose a settlement amount and get your accounts paid off with the creditors. Talk to a debt consultant for your options. He will figure out a suitable plan.
