check with your court clerk.see if the summons is real.it should have on it that you have so many days to file an answer.check with your court clerk to see if the case # is legit.if so answer the summons, and a court date will be assigned then.

It was originally filed on 22 sep 09 and it says 30 days to respond but i recieved it today and on the bottom it has dates written in pen and crossed out, i guess they tried to deliver it a couple times but its well passed 30 days.

Dont you think they would be dumb to send a fake summons?? Isnt that illigal??

It was issued on sep 22 09 and it says i have 30 days to reply but i just recieved it today and on the bottem of the first page it has dates scrached off in pen showing that they tried to deliver it a couple times. Wouldnt they be scared to send a fake summons?

Please do not get stressed, get educated.. I've been through the court system before and its a horrific convulted process, but that is great if you are a defendent. Just look at hard it is to actually convict a killer, murder and rapist..

At first I used to be infuriated with the whole court process.. But now, I am empowered by it, because now I am a defendent..

May I have your email address? I will send you some information that will put you at ease. I cant post on this forum because moderators have rules.

Yeah, good point.. How were you served? Were you properly served? I am in business.. I 've had countless felonious lawsuits all dismissed on grounds of not being properly served. You have to be educated..

Regarding the scratch outs, that means nothing.. I got divorced, but it was dragged out for years.. In the final decree, my attorney simply scratched out in blue marker the date that the divorce was final.

For years, (until I remarried) this scratch out pissed me off, because it looked fake but its not. It was questioned by the day care, (since I custody, and could dictate who could pick up my son) and etc.. But scratch out, although unprofessional, mean nothing. Still legit.

Yeah, you could imagine that lawyers don't have computers and printers with them in the court room. They type up the "expected" order/forms ahead of time before they go to court, but sometimes dates/amounts change in the courtroom -- so they have to cross it out and hand-write it.

As long as it has the court's stamp on it, it should be legit. Or you could always go to the courthouse and look at the original/recorded copy -- if they are both altered, then it's correct.
