How do you stop harassing phone calls from a creditor?

Are you receiving calls from the original creditor or a collection agency? If you are receiving phone calls from a collection agency you can send them a cease and desist letter requesting them to stop all phone calls to your work, home, or related number and ask all correspondence be conducted through the mail. Also, send this request via certified mail to ensure they received it.

If it is an original creditor, you can try to request that they contact you in a different way, but there is not much you can do with an OC under the fdcpa.

If it is a home or cell the best thing to do is change your number and keep it unlisted assuming they are calling you even though you told them not too.

Is this call regarding some loan you have with the creditor or is it a tele-marketing call?

If it is for a loan, you need to be upfront and inquire about the latest status of your account. Work out some sort of arrangements and stick to the plan. The calls will subside after receiving a couple of payments. If this is a tele-marketing call, register the company at https://www.donotcall.gov/

John, you did not say whether this is an internet or store front loan, but you can send them a ceae and desist letter. Tell them you are not to receive calls at work, they don't allow it, and only to communicate with you via mail. Some will abide by this, others won't, so keep track of dates they call after they receive the letter, and send it certified, return receipt..Good Luck..Karen

my mother in law signed for a loan for my son and they added on insurance because they said we didn't have it but we did, I have faxed over numerous times the proof and the insurance agent has called them but they continue to call 10 to 11 times every day and then they will read the message and say sorry for the call but still even today Sunday they have already called 10 times to both my mother in law's home and she is sickly and 84 so she gave them my cell number and now they call it everyday even today at 8:15 Sunday morning they say have you talked to our insurance department and again we tell them yes and even the agent has ws have conformation of them receiving the fax and they say oh it will take 72 hours well this was done the first time 16 days ago. What can we do?
