What do you say to a Credit Card company? What words do I use? How do I get them to: 1. Reduce my interest rate; and, 2. Possibly shave off some of the debt? I am just getting by now, everything is current, but I am only paying minimums. My husband wants me to call the companies, and I am SCARED TO DEATH. PLEASE HELP!!!

Oh yeah, negotiating with credit card companies is a tough job.....as you have written that you are able to make only the minimum payments then you must be their favorite customer. So, they wont be happy to do any kind of negotiations with you.....BUT you have to stand on your grounds.... you have to convince them that you won't be even able to make the minimum payments from the next month.
If you are speaking to them over the phone, then it is better to maintain a log of the calls. Remember to keep a record of when and whom you talked to.....however,I would suggest you to communicate with the credit card companies in writing.
Take care
