so i recently checked my credit report and HSBC/RS was on there for 05' but I never applied for anything under them! i only have 2 credit cards with a close to perfect score, so apparently its not hurting me, i dont think, but how can that just show up like that? i hope this question makes sense! There was also something on there about kroll factual data/060 mortgage reporters, I have never applied for a mortgage ever in my life!

You need to speak with HSBC/RS and inquire about the account. They are not allowed to report invalid accounts to the bureaus. This is going to hurt your scores in a big way in the future when you are shopping for credit.

well, I would like to ask them, however, Im sure that they would need more of my information to look up my registered information that they gained somehow. I dont know how they got my credit information and what information they do have. They are probably goin to ask me for more personal information and I wouldnt feel comfortable giving it to them, especially since I do not know how they got me in their system to begin with. what would you do?

Are you sure none of your credit cards have sold out to HSBC?

Negative listings can dent your score badly. In my opinion you should send a credit dispute letter to the credit bureau that holds the inaccurate information. For instance, if the negative listings are there in your Experian report then you should notify the Experian complaint department in writing. Include copies of documents that support your claims. Under the FCRA, a credit bureau has 30 days to look into a dispute raised by the consumer regarding possible inaccuracies. The bureau must then give the written results of the investigation to the consumer. If the dispute results in a change then the bureau must also provide the consumer with a free copy of the updated report. You need to also contact HSBC/RS and the mortgage reporters that reported the items to the bureau. Send the letters via certified mail with a RRR. Keep the copies of the letters with you.

well, I had used freecreditreport.com to check my report. I tried to look up these companys and contact information, and I couldnt find a thing. The companies are briefly named with little to no information on them in the report. I am so new to this stuff!
