Lowering Payments / Keeping Credit Score

Please be patient with me. Since finding this site and especially this forum, I feel like I finally have a voice!

I am waiting for the free consultation call, but in the meantime can someone advise me on the best way to keep my credit rating, but lower my monthly payments to a more doable amount?

Including a $20,000 student loan, I owe another $20,000 in credit cards, personal and car loans. I have maintained a decent credit score but am paying out almost $1000 a month! This amount is choking me, I see no end in sight and if something doesn't give soon, I will start falling behind on payments.

What is the best move for me at this point and still allowing me to keep the credit rating I've worked so damn hard at getting?

Thank you sooooo much for being out there. I feel less alone since finding you all.

Hey Janiece, I am right there with ya! I have about $15,000 in CC debt, $14,000 in personal loans, and a whopping $64,000 in student loans ( well actually, after several years I've paid it down to $32,000. But still, came a long way.... )

Even with all that debt, I am 0-0-0, absolutely 0 delinquent accounts, 0 charge-offs, 0 collections and 0 public records. However, I have gotten so in over my head in debt that I feel like I won't be able to make my timely payments for much longer and my credit will eventually suffer. So like you, I am looking for the best suggestion to take control of my debt while taking the smallest toll on my credit report, as I have worked so hard to keep a clean track record.

Sorry I don't have any advice to offer- just wanted to let you know that here, you are among friends ^_^

Amaranth - your suppport and outreach was as helpful as any advice, so thank you.

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat (without a paddle!). Let's just hang in there and wait for these good people to share their wisdom and experience.

Good luck to you.

Peace
