When I was 17, I got some credit cards to my name and maxed them out. I have spent many years paying my debt down and I am still in debt. I have quite some time before I am completely debt free but the key I've learned is smart management of your money and your bills. Pay your bills ON TIME even if it's the minimum payment. It's very important!

I will add a point. Try your best to pay in full or at least more than the minimum payments. This way, a lot of money will be saved in the high interests and the fees added on each month. You will take less time to clear the balance if you are making larger payments.
