My paycheck is currently garnished for a defaulted student loan. I owe back taxes to the IRS, can they do more than one garnishment at a time?
Thanks!

Yes they can...but I believe that they can only do it up to a certain percent of your disposable income...
Also, the IRS does not have to take you to court to garnish your wages...they can do it automatically....

Go directly to your local IRS office. Tell them you want to work something out with them. You have three options. An installment agreement, offer in compromise or CNC (currently not collectible.) They are more than willing to work with you. Have you received an An Intent to Levy letter yet? I you have they give you 30 days to respond before they file with the County Court. Once they file you are getting close. They also will place a Lien on current or future property making getting a mortgage very hard. Do not try calling them if possible. You will be on hold forever and will wait forever for them to send you forms. Go to see them and do not waste time. Once you are there you will be safe from garnishment. Been there. Done that.
