Free consultations are great, i wish i known about this when i went into consolidation and was dealing with all the debt i had a few years back. whatever company you're thinking about using, please type their name into this site's search bar AND especially check with the BBB to make sure they're a legitimate company. unfortunately some are scams and people give out their personal and banking information and get into trouble, so please research prior to whichever option you choose for your investing time and money into whatever avenue you pursue. good luck.
I can tell you that consolidation (if that's what you're thinking) was great for me. had 10k worth of credit card debt and i was able to pay it off within 3 years. most of my creditors agreed to the terms of the program and my counselor did all the leg work negotiating payment plans and such. let us know how you do
