Should I max out my credit cards to buy myself a few extra months before they lower my available balance? Can I call my largest credit card and get them to raise my limit by transfering over all my other credit cards into it and closing them, thereby having one payment? This will lower my payment and it seems that it would be good business decision for the credit card. I am worried however that they will put up a red flag on my account and limit it anyway.

That doesn't really fix your problem. Honestly you would be better of looking into a Consumer credit counseling program. They can get you into a program that will get you one payement. Plus the interest rates will be locked in at around 6-10 % depending on who your creditors are. It doesn`t hurt you credit score and will help you get out of debt a lot faster than getting out of debt on your own. Oh course this is just my opinion but I truly hopes this helps you.
