DEBT and More Debt

I got married and I brought debt but she brought more. It has been a continuous struggle trying to break free. Between getting loans to pay off other loans it has snow balled. We have house notes, car payments, car insurance payment(Includes a 20 year old step daughter) and a variety of credit cards and loans! It's not like either one of us are shop-aholics but its just the regular stuff that happens. We make descent money between our two jobs but of course uncle Sam takes a big chunk of that. I know that it can be always be worse so I'm not being too negative but it is frustrating sometimes and depressing on occassion. I know people in a lot worse shape than us. However, I MUST pay this stuff off little by little.

Hi Darltk

Most of us have been in similar situations. Don't worry. You will come out of all this mess. Have you gone through your total outstanding balance? You may give a call to your creditors and explain your financial situation. They might set up an easy plan for you. Or you can speak to a debt counselor for professional help. He will analyze your income and expense and work out a suitable plan. Then he will negotiate with your creditors to reduce the interest rates.

Hello I can understand, lots of us here are in similar situations, but you didn't mention if your bills are late or if you have been able to keep them up. Maybe you could post some more information so we can provide better responses. From just reading your info, yes calling the companies is an option, but have you also looked at your other bills? and:

Have you reviewed your budget, do you have one?
Have you gotten rid of unnecessary things? Switch to basic cable, get rid of cell phones, have one land line.

Have you researched car insurance lately, and why is your 20 year old still on your insurance? If she's on is she helping with the payment? Either way, go online and research see if you can find better insurance, I did this and saved almost $50 a month.

Do you need both cars? Can you sell one?

Just some ideas that might increase some cash to apply towards your debt.
