Mary, how are you? First of all, there may be programs and/or benefits available to you from your state government for having a disabled son in the household. Second, garnishment can only happen if a court order says that it is legal to do so. Thirdly, and this is where you possess the power; It is illegal for a collection agency to threaten wage garnishment. Please file an online complaint with your states Attorney Generals Office in regards to the illegal threats. They have violated federal laws in doing so. Also, do you know the name of the collection company who threatened you?

Hi Mary, how much is your total debt? You need to work out a plan with your creditor before they get your wages garnished. Give a try; you can make them work on your terms. Or you can hire a debt consultant to negotiate with your creditors. They will fix up a plan with your creditors and according to your present financial situation.

See if you can find a better paying job. You can put in larger payments once your situation improves.

I like your idea, a neblat, and let these creditors know that getting blood from a turnip is difficult.

Exactly, even if they manage to take you to the court, they will never get anything when you have nothing to give EXTRA.
