Lost my husband a few years ago but he did not have life insurance. I have 6 kids and been working my butt off to pay all my debt. Twisted up in PDL's and a cash call loan plus credit card and other debt. I am feeling at my wits end. But I am determined to get out of debt once and for all.

The only way to get out of debt is to stop blaming everyone else and to have the determination that you do!Libra you are on the right path to recovery!!! good for u!Our country has fallen into a blame game of everything is everyone else's fault sue them any time you can etc....you have a dead husband 6 kids etc...but you know you are more fortunate than others and are working to get out of the hole you are in...Hooray for you!!!!!!!..3 nites ago I walked out of my home in sub zero temps..told my family..we don't realize how blessed we are..might think we don't have much..but can we stop and think for a minute about all of those poor homeless people in our country freezing against the elements tonight? amazing about how my great grandma's story about "I got an orange in my sock for Christmas and walked a mile thru the snow to get to school" has turned into "thank God for my blessings that I am not out on the streets of this great country freezing right now looking for cardboard to keep me warmer" libra your determination is amazing and I think it is becuz you still know you are here for a reason and that your life has been blessed! Well I know what you mean about this blame game, and trust me...I do not blame anyone for my debt...my debt is what it is...trying to care for all of us and I have a decent job but it is just not enough. I have never have and never will be a blamer...I believe if you do not become part of the solution you are part of the problem. I came here looking for tips on how to help me reduce my debt. Maybe I came to the wrong place...don't know. I'm just reading what others have wrote and taking notes. It is hard to try to make a child realize...yes your dad is gone, but be thankful for what you have. I know this...I am an adult...but children...all they know is...my dad is dead and will not come back. They are struggling with this while I try to be all to them..and it is not easy. My debt came after his death...no longer having 2 incomes was devastating. And prior to his death the only debt we had was a mortgage...cars were paid off, no credit cards...nothing. Then he dies...and it all falls apart, our 4 months worth of house payments in savings...was gone in a heart beat...I don't know if you know how much a funeral costs these days...but it is much more than I thought it would be. Basically, we were not prepared ... I learned a HUGE lesson. But I am trying to care for my family and get out of debt. Not here to blame or even post all my whiney-ness. Nope...just here for some help and support.

libra I hope you don't think I was downing you..I actually think you are an example to others in debt and that is why I responded..talked about the blame game and think you are not a part of that at all! Again Merry Christmas..I think if you stick around you will find a lot of support here!

Libra - many blessings to you and your family for the holidays. I hope you have applied for death benefits for you and your children through Social Security. I know that what they offer could never replace an income, but I know anything you can get will be helpful.

Libra, I am so sorry about your situation, but you have come to the right place. There are so many people here who can help you. I am not familiar with the credit cards, and other debt however, others are and they will be along to help. I am familiar with the pdls and cash call. If you want to list the state your in, whether your pdls are storefront or internet, which companies you borrowed from, how much you borrowed and the total of how much you have paid back we can try to begin with helping you with those.

Welcome to the Community  I am sorry for your loss, and your childrens loss. Raising a family is stressfull enough- but 6 kids to support makes it pretty hard-I know- been there, done that-only not with 6 
If you list the info Roxy asked for-we can point you in the right direction. It does take time and work, but you can get out from under alot of that stress.
It took a while for me with the CC debt, but we are almost out of debt. We have paid off all debt and have been fighting a CA for almost 2 years. With the knowledge from this board, you can find help and hope--Hang in there!..KAren

Libra, I give you so much credit for all that you have done since your husbands death. I have to admit that if that were to happen to me I think I would lose it. You are a very strong person. I am sure that we can help you figure some things out to make it a little easier on you.
