i am trying to repair my credit , i recently was discharged from the military and have found no work. i want to know if settling or only paying a portion of the balance will hurt my credit any more than it is now, bills are 8 months past due

I would guess at eight months past due, your credit score has pretty much tanked. At this point, settling probably won't hurt you any more - in fact, by settling the accounts one by one, and stopping the accruing interest and fees, you will slowly begin to become debt-free. Once they are ALL settled, you will be able to start rebuilding your credit.

settlement hands down. like the previous post your credit is already shot and 8 months they are going to want to settle. once all your accounts are done your credit will go back to normal as long as you are responsible and pay on time again. good luck
