Who To Report Payday Lenders To?

I have reported some of my payday loan lenders to the BBB and my state Attorney General's office. The BBB seems to be no help, the pdl issues a response, I submit a rebuttal, the pdl issues their response to my rebuttal (generally the same as their initial response) and the BBB marks the complaint "closed". And my Attorney General's office has not issued any kind of a response to me on any of my complaints (the first one was filed close to two months ago). Is there anyone else that you can file a complaint with?

You can also file your complaints with the FTC to investigate the illegal business of the lending companies. The authorities don't take actions unless they have received numerous complaints against one company. But you can express your concern so that it gets reviewed when they will conduct an investigation.

I saw this link posted in the other thread. You can go through it and report to the authorities of your state.

I had already filed a complaint with the Arkansas Attorney General's office, and just got finished filing complaints using the two sites listed above. Thanks so much for your help.

If your complaints are with store lenders who use checks in the transaction go to this link:

http://www.asbca.org/

They are the governing agency.

Or are your complaints with internet lenders?

The BBB will only forward a complaint to the PDL's.
Wheather they anser or not is another thing. That's
as far as the BBB goes.

Your AG will only answer a complain. if it is many of the same from the same state. Otherwise, you are on your own.

If you complain to the FTC you will receive a form letter that basically says "You are on your own!"

You,and you alone are the only recourse! You may have
to take them to Arbitration if you want results.

Funny how folks only decide these businesses are illegal AFTER they get the lenders' money into their accounts. As soon as the cash shows up, the next step is to send a letter to the BBB or the borrower's own attorney general complaining about those nasty people who actually expect the borrower to keep his word and pay his bills.

All of my loans were online.

For Collector #1 & Guest - As far as not paying my debt, let me give a few examples of how I have "not paid my debt": Lender #1 - $500.00 loan; I paid them $1,115.72 back. Lender #2 - $500.00 loan; I paid them $976.43 back. Lender #3 - $100.00 loan; I paid them $212.50 back. How do you conclude that I have not paid my debts? Maybe before you come on here making rude comments, you ought to know all of the facts. I have more than paid well over what I borrowed.

This forum was created to help people, I am sure the intent is not for people who have nothing better to do to come on here and degrade others. I have paid my loans back, I am simply trying to make sure that these lenders are held responsible for charging people outrageous interest fees, just because someone is in a desperate situation. We all need help from time to time, if you can't add something positive or constructive to the forum, please go somewhere else. None of us are here with the intent of not paying our debts.

One more thing, and then I will get off of my soap box! If all of these lenders are not doing anything illegal, why are they willing to send some customers refunds? I highly doubt that it is out of the goodness of their hearts!

Guest, we know what we are saying and we say it with full confidence when we find lenders doing illegal activities. If they had been always in the fair side, why is the govt. taking actions against some periodically. There have been regular updates in the government website about some companies heavily penalized after violating the laws. Guess, this happens only after people express their concerns against illegitimate companies. On individual basis, when someone refuses to pay his debt, he can go through legal judgments and he will have to suffer for his doings. Don't worry about that! The companies doing illegal business must correct their lines first.

One of my biggest problems with these lenders (in addition to the high interest rates they charge) is that they continue to give loans to people who already have several outstanding payday loans. They have to accept some responsibility for contributing to the problem when they give a loan to someone who already has 7 loans outstanding (just as an example). If someone were only able to have one loan out at a time, then most of us would not have the problems that we have had. It just seems unthinkable to me that one person can be given 8, 9, 10 or more payday loans at one time. These companies are well aware of this fact, yet continue to grant numerous loans to the same person. Obviously, all that they are seeing is dollar signs.

Here is the link for the State Banking Department. They will take your complaints regarding unlicensed internet lenders.

Hope, please visit my blog. There is a template letter on there for Cash Today...they are the same company as Route 66. You just need to paste in your state laws.

Peace
