Hi,
I owe money to 4 different credit cards. One of them sent summons yesterday. But I left USA 7 years ago. I paid for 2 years from overseas but after that I couldn't as I lost job. Even when I was in USA my work visa got expired so I had to leave US.
Now what will they do cause I can't come to states to receive the summons. Will the judge give the judgement eventhough the summons were not received. I am so confused. I am so far from USA that I can't visit for another 2 years. I am living in Newzeland now.What will happen now. I don't have any information as which lawyer sent the summons and what is inside the envelope. Cop asked my friend for me and he said I don't live there and cop left. I never lived in that address.
Please help me. I received some good replies yesterday but still depressed.

They can't do anything to you other than put a blemish on your credit report... Assuming all is the same as we talked about yesterday.
Remember, this is all civil, not criminal. You won't go to jail, your friend isn't in danger, they are not going to come over to your house and beat up your dog or anything.
