Release Letter

I settled with one creditor/collector a while ago in 2004. Yet, I did not receive a release letter from this company even though I requested in the mail (I do have a copy of the letter, the rep name and its extension number). The settlement information has been on my report since it occurred, which is ok with me. So I did not bother...
The real question is that should I ask them to provide it now?

Greatly appreciate everyone's input.

Thank you.

It is your right to demand for the "SIF" letter from the credit company since you have satisfied the debt and they have reported the item on your credit file. If they don't give you the release letter, take the help of an attorney for resolving this problem.
