My creditors called me at work and they spoke to the wrong person, and told him that he is behind on his account which was my account information. is this a violation? if it is what kind? Can I file some sort of complaint against them, since my information was shared to someone else which was not supposed to happen?

I believe under the "Privacy Act" your rights were violated. A creditor is not suppose to share your information with anyone. The second thing is proving it, I would write a letter to the creditor and see what kind of response you get. I'd also call the Attorney General's office of your state and see if you can file a complaint.

Did they speak to this person thinking it was u?? It is a violation to tell others about ur debt but it is hard to prove this also.

I had this issue once as well where I actually got someone elses call.... Our first names are the same and the pronunciation of our last names sounded similar. The call was transferred to me from the switchboard.
Once I found out who they were looking for, I took their info, and passed it to the right person. They only did it once...

I thought they were supposed to ask for info to verify that you are you (if that makes sense...)
