They do not give up. Months later and I get a call at work today.
"This is Mr. Reynolds from the legal dept. of Route 66 Funding. Do you wish to settle your balance or choose to ignore it."
"I don't have a balance."
"You don't have a balance?"
"I don't need to talk to you, Bye." click.
At that moment the receptonist switched the phone to night at 5 PM where you just get a tape. It must have driven him nuts when he called back.

That's the same thing they did to me. Months of nothing, then a call out of the blue asking me if I wanted to settle.

They are just hopeless, aren't they? Now if it was 5 pm your time, it must have been the middle of the night in London? The slimeballs probably have a night shift for the phones...

I heard that also, just recently. That was hilarious!!!
I guess I have been lucky so far...no calls from Route66. UCL's sent that dang check through and got money, so they have left me alone. I swear, these people are like bad pennies, they keep showing up.
