I received a settlement offer from Merrick Bank saying they will slash my current balance in 1/2 if I can pay that full amount within 30 days or they will set up payment arrangements over a 36 months. I am unable to pay the $578.29 all at once and can pay the $22.48 for 36 months, however I can not pay them anything until April 3rd and the 3rd of each month after that. What should I do?

Also am I safe to give them my new checking account info or not?

Merrick Bank seems easy to work with Ladybug. I make my regular CC payments through my bank to them with no problem.

thanks road...I will send them out a letter this week telling them that I will be taking advantage of this offer but can not pay them anything until April 3rd, do you think they will say that's too late?

The worst that they can say is that it's too late. If that happens, you're no worse off than you were before, right?

As to giving them banking info, I wouldn't do it. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but at least I'm upfront about it.
