In Maine, all civil actions must be started within 6 years after the cause of action. For liabilities under seal, promissory notes signed in the presence of an attesting witness, or on the bills, notes or other evidences of debt issued by a bank, the limitation is 20 years after the cause of action. Judgments are presumed paid after 20 years.
