I am in panic mode

I talked to the 2 storefront PDLs today to see my options. I haven't defaulted yet but will. I am not going to have any money left until next week and I need to get groceries. I am going to go with T & C but it's going to be 2 long weeks until next payday until I can pay them. I get a check from my partime job next Friday. I am scared to death of defaulting on the storefront loans. T & C said they can get them to work with them and lower the payments more than I could on my own. I can't sleep and I don't know where else to turn. I can't close down the checking account until I know rent is paid. I just need some reassurance that it's going to be okay. I am having severe anxiety over this.

You are in the right place for help. I personally have no experience with payday loans, but someone will be along shortly that can help you out. There are tons of great people on this site that can give you advice on this. Most important - it will be ok.

Mama, please take a deep breathe and try to relax. Like dalfire said, it is going to be ok. I know that I wrote a response to this post a few minutes ago but it is gone now. Is there any way that you can stop payment on the rent check and pay the rent in cash to keep these pdl's from running their checks through and costing you more money? If you are going to pay T & C in 2 weeks then relax. The storefront pdl's are not going to take you to court in two week's time. It really will be ok. I felt the EXACT same way that you do now when I found this forum in March.

Me three! It's going to be OK, take it from someone who has been down that road--and is still on it. And as said in a prior post, they're not going to do anything in two weeks--it's a slow process.

Same here as far as legal advice....I haven't dealt with any PDL's.....but, is there anyway you could possibly speak with your bank and block the PDL debits until the following week when you will have the money. Or, as Sass suggested....get your rent money out and pay in cash and get that taken care of first. Trust me the PDL people want the money more than they want to take you to court. Taking you to court would involve expense on their end. So I too agree that nothing will happen more than the harrassment and threats in just a 2 week period. Now I see that jj has already responded asking you some very pertinent questions.....so as everyone said...you are in the right place. We are all here due to some type of debt problem so you are definitely not alone. And, I have seen some incredible knowledge concerning PDL problems posted here. So you are not alone and someone will be able to help you!

Mamallama -

Take it easy - it will all be fine. The storefronts will most likely work out a payment arrangement with you. If you can tell us what state you're in, we can give you better advice based on the laws of your state. Most state laws allow for a repayment plan when it comes to payday loans.

Even if the lenders tried to take you to court, they wouldn't do it until you actually defaulted, then they tried to collect from you and couldn't. THAT'S when they try to take you to court. And that would take quite a bit longer than 2 weeks. They're not going to take you to court on the day you default.

I know it takes a while. Checkmate (storefront) stated the check needs to be returned and then will go to collections. He said because I called first I could pay half next payday and then the balance on the following payday. I owe $585 including fees. Advance America stated the minimum they could accept was $75 per payday and check would have to bounce before arrangements could be made. I need to know if I should go down to Bank of America tomorrow and put a freeze on the account. 2 of the internet loans, worldwide cash and EZ Payday cash come out of there and will be debited Friday for fees only. I don't want to close the account until I know which account my husband's paycheck is going to. We have 2 bank accounts. I have 4 loans through the credit union account that are internet. I've already defaulted on UCL and owe $175. I've asked to stop ACH debits with One Click Cash today but it may be too late. I owe them $165. I owe Cashnet USA $165.00 but it will pay off Friday and I owe $254 to cash transfer centers which will also pay off Friday. I won't have anything left. My husband also has 2 storefront loans each with Advance America and Checkmate. His are $345.00 and $235.00. I've been trying to tell him what we need to do but he is being very thick headed. Part of the problem that started all this is that we bounced 8 checks that the bank returned because of him not telling me what checks he wrote and just bad communication. We were charged $200.00 in NSF fees from the bank. The checks have all been redeposited and cleared but now we have to pay another $200.00 in fees to the merchants. It all snowballed from there. What a nightmare. And just a few weeks ago, we were doing okay. Not great, but nothing like this. I am so sick, I can't sleep at night and my stomach is one big knot.

Oh yeah, I am in Arizona. By the way, I had previously agreed with UCL to pay half what I owe on Friday but I called them up and agreed to pay full balance next payday just to put them off long enough to have T & C handle them. By then, the account will be closed and they can't do anything.

Ok first things first..even if you block a particular company name, they will just submit it under a new name to get their money..they are very tricky like that. United Cash Loans are a horrible company to work for...I would get anything from them in writing. CTC are notorious for sending in volunatary wage assignments, so you need to contact your payroll dept and tell them that you have revoked any voluntray wage assignments...Also, start sending these companies letters revoking their right to debit your account and revoking voluntary wage assignments!

I agree with everyone here about taking a deep breath and relax a bit. You have taken some first steps already. Do get the letters out revoking the debits from your account and the vountary wage assignments. Get them out as soon as possible. If you can, your internet ones, you may be able to email these to them, but make sure you keep copies of them. UCLs are bad. I had a loan through them, sent them emails and even had their debits reversed (I am in NC) and never heard anything from them for a while and then they snuck a "check" through, which I have now been told there is nothing anyone can do, so I am definitly out that money. As soon as you know what account his check is being deposited in, which hopefully it isn't the account your pdls are coming out of, close that account.

It will take some time and effort, but you can get through this. At times, it might even get frustrating, but know you can come here and get help, advice and encouragment. Hang in there!!!

I talked to One Click Cash today. I had faxed and e-mailed them to revoke ACH authorization yesterday and they called me today and stated they would extend me until next payday and not debit my account. By next payday, the account will be closed and I will have the new one and then I'll let T & C deal with them. I also talked to Bank of America today and they are freezing the funds in the account today. Not sure how this will play out tomorrow but I was told I may get lucky and they won't pay them and all I would have is NSF fees and then I could close the account. Even though I haven't officially started with T & C yet, she stated that even if they did get the money I could file a claim to try and get it back with them. We'll see what happens tomorrow. In the meantime I am going to try and breathe.

What is T&C? I have defaulted on payday loans and they are calling my work extension non-stop. One person pretended to work for my company in order to find me. She told my boss she had a software issue and was trying to reach me all day.
