I am in Va.
I have several storefront PDLS's which I had been juggling for months.
I had been reading this forum and considering what to do but was actually forced to take action when my boss cut my hours this last pay period.
I am now in the process of calling all of them.
One woman actually told me she would loan me the money personally to pay back Check N Go and that I could pay her back. RIGHT! I don't think so!

So it's about to get really ugly.

Any advice?

Welcome to the forums Very Happy

You will find you are not alone here,many of us have been,or are in the same position as you. This forum provides support and knowledge on handling your debt and how to become debt free. Since they are store front lenders,you need to take care of these quickly. They can and will file against you. I would go in person,if possible,and explain your situation to see if they can work something out with you. Sometimes,if you go and talk with them and show you aren't trying to get out of anything,they will work with you.If they get really ugly,you may have to resort to borrowing money from a friend or relative so they won't take action.Keep us posted!...Karen

So far, two of them have agreed to hold my checks til my next payday on the 15th. One of them also said I could then pay HALF after which we could make arrangement for me to pay the rest a little at a time.

2 others are to call me back but I did get to explain that I had no intention of disappearing and I do intend to pay them but due to financial difficulties at the moment I just cant pay it all at once.
They were nice.

One I already know has deposited my check so I will deal with them next week.

The last 2 come due 15 September and I will deal with them at that time.

The meanest lady is the one that actually said that if I paid half, she'd work with me on the rest.

So that just goes to show that if you face them and be honest, the bark will probably always be worse than their actual bite.

I notice something else, too.
Those two I have dealt with seemed like it was NO PROBLEM for them to hold the check two more weeks.
It seems they make a lot of effort to avoid it becoming an UNsecure loan once the bank returns it for NSF.

Any thoughts on that?

I got a call from the credit counselor this morning but can't talk to her now til Monday (maybe Tuesday?).

Hopefully this is the beginning of me getting out of this nightmare though.

When that happens, it'll be largely due to me reading this forum off and on for the last 2-3 months.

Good luck amycseaford, I am thinking positive for you. Keep in touch with your lenders if you face any problems in your payments. Just be careful that you stick to your given words or else you will be deprived of all the extended facilities.

Hopefully I will eventually be able to consolidate those pdl's. I am seeing that there may be a problem if they hesitate to put it through my account, which would make it an unsecured loan once it is returned.

I would appreciate any advice along those lines.

Christina, I haven't committed to anything at this point except that I am trying to get my finances straightened out and do wish to repay those lenders.

I didn't know what else to do so I just went with the truth.

Good for you-like they say-the truth will set you free-Luckily,you had some collectore that would work with you,sometimes that doesn't happen. But I have found that with the store front lenders,mine anyway,they would work with me. Now,I always held up my end of the bargain,so I think that helps. I do know,never to promise more than you can pay.I've had to struggle financially to get them paid,but I always made sure I could make them. I am in NC. I just closed my checking account Wednesday and opened new one to stop PDL charges. Also sent out letters. I haven't gotten any calls yet. But waiting. Anyone else in NC?

Well so far Check N Go is working with me as is Advance America, Quik Cash and Kings Cash Advance.
Checksmart deposited my check and I'll deal with them when they start calling.
The other two aren't in default.
Yet.

In the meantime I am looking for a consolidation company and CCCA tells me they don't have an office in Virginia.

How does consolidation work once these accounts go to collection? There's no way I can afford the payments they area asking me to make.
And Quik Cash even wants the whole balance on the 15th or says they will seek a judgment against me.
They, of course, say I can reborrow Rolling Eyes
