I call a half dozen credit consolidators never finding one that was quite right. I am not sure that is the right action to take. Then I stumble across this site with all you great information that I could have used months ago. I can no longer keep up with the payments.

Any advise would be helpful.

Other than winner the lottery what would people recommend as the first step to turn my finacial picture around?

Thanks,
Roger

Hi Roger!
Welcome! Very Happy You've already taken the first step by acknowledging your situation. A lot of people never do! You also helped yourself by registering with the site. After a few days a counselor will call you; they can discuss settlement and consolidation options and point out some companies. Please check any company you plan to use with the BBB!

In the meantime, please browse the site..You can learn a lot here. Feel free to ask anything at all, we're here to help.

yeah Roger, being that you have researched and contacted some consolidation companies, I think this site will help you if you utilize your free consultation, and from here you may learn of some options you haven't yet thought about. it really also depends on what kind of debts you have. keep us posted

I am currently behind on some credit cards. I heard its better to send them $10 then nothing at all?

I am working to get a clear picutre of my monthly expenses first. I know I can no longer pay these high interest rates and the minimum balance keeps going up.

Is it better to try and stay current a least on card or to let them all go?

My first priority is my mortgage.

I'm going to post my whole story this weekend.

I'm behind on two accounts as well. I can't afford that minimum payment they want at the moment. It's a struggle. I wonder the same thing as you; is it better to send $20 or nothing at all?

Do we get hit with a $30 late fee EACH month? That's what I want to know...If that's the case, we'll never get ahead.
