Internet's first get-out-of-debt community - 134,000 members

I have been piling up credit card debt since 2000, starting with a vacation I financed on plastic... biiiig mistake! My question is where do I go from here? I can no longer tread water like i have been, just paying minimums just to get by to keep everyone off my back.Now i stand to lose my job. Can anyone advise? Can I declare bankrupcy, or can't you do that these days?

You need to make larger payments on the outstanding balance in case you want to improve your credit scores faster. Bankruptcy laws have nowadays become stiffer. You need to qualify in a means test before the debts are discharged. You should speak to one debt consultant and know your options. If you can afford one payment plan offered by the consultant, you won't have to think about filing BK.
