I got a call today from White Collar Investigators and the person that I spoke with first was a women and then she couldn't answer all my questions so she tranfered me to someone else who then transfered me to a Robert James and they all told me that I warrant was going to be issued for me by 2pm today and that the only way I could resolve this is turning my self in if I wanted to or pay the money by 2pm via money gram. Does anyone know anything about this kind of phone call???????

This is probably Bass & Associates. It is ILLEGAL for a debt collector to threaten you in this way. Could you provide the telephone number, and what company you may have had a payday loan with?

Is that a Tasha sighting??? Welcome back!!! And yes, that is complete and UTTER BS. I would even call their bluff at 2 pm and call your local PD and ask for any warrants in your name--and when there are none (and there will be) tell them to blow smoke u-know-where.

What state are you in? It will be good to start recording their phone calls and keep a log of date, time and the name of the person on the line. First check the laws of your state if you are required to inform them about recording the calls. Most states allow secret recording of the phone calls.

Lwn, Also just so u know, NO one is coming to arrest u! These are illegal tactics used by some Collection Agencies to get u to pay out of fear! You can NOT be arrrested for a debt!
Please try to calm down, take a deep breath (i know eaiser said than done) and give the above people the info to help u with this matter!

Definately double check the laws re recording phone conversations. I know in California, you must get the other person's consent before you can do it.
It's after 2 pm and I bet you are still home, right? Those LIARS!!!!

Sorry I probably missed the 2pm deadline for this post but its too good to resist. Tell them to hurry up because you have another PDL company that has a warrant issued for 1 pm. Tell them you were kind of hoping to get free food and shelter for the rest of the week and maybe longer if its ok since your landlord just kicked you to the curb.

I can NOT believe this! Every day I am amazed at what these people do! Telling you they're going to arrest you unless you pay by Money Gram by 2:00pm??? What the hell??? I had one pdl tell me to Money Gram him some money. Yeah, okay. Luckily the only thing he did to me was call and leave me a message asking where "his" money was. This has got to be something that some sort of agency can handle, isn't it? Someone has got to be able to do something about these people! Telling poor people that they're going to jail??? What???? I swear, these pdl's never cease to amaze me. Thank goodness for this forum. Because being on it gives the knowledge that's needed.
