I think *you* need to sue them, since apparently they have ripped you off. It's waiting around for someone else that emboldens these people to act in an illegal manner because so few will take them to account for it.

World Financial Network is a scam. They've been calling me w/ a very vague "message about a personal matter that is not a sales call", and I have no idea what it's about (I have great credit and have no balances on any credit card) but then when you call back the number - you can't speak to someone unless you put in your account number. Well, how do you know what account number to use if they don't tell you why they're calling?!! It's very frustrating - Congress (or someone!) needs to do something to stop there unscruplous business practices

First off, World Financial Network National Bank adhears to all federal and state laws. The bank itself is regualarly audited by the U.S. Gevernment to ensure laws are follwed.

People who claim they were scammed are, for lack of a better word, stupid. WFNNB's internal collections department is ran off an automated dialing system that, depending on the time of day calls specific numbers, whether its a home, business or cell phone. Federal law currently does not set a limit of the number of times a call can be placed to someone who has an account past due. The dialer uses out-going numbers only from specific states that the calls are generated. Numbers are provided on the statement for collections, the indivual client's customer service(Express, The Limited Victoria's Secret etc.) as well as the payment and customer service mailing address.

While on the topic of statments, a lot of people think WFNNB scam them by sending them late or not at all. This is not the case. Statements are sent every month when the account bills, just like every credit card company. However, and this is imortant, so read carefully! WFNNB does NOT, again, WFNNB does NOT send statements. Statements are sent by the client themselves, ie., Express and Victoria's Secret. Also, the paticular clients are not the postal service, they have no control of the mail. You as an account holder are responsible for payments every month whether a statement is received as you are aware of holding a balance with the card. See your credit card agreement you are supposed to read before accepting.

Now onto the subject of late fee's. Late fee's, as with every credit card company, well ever, are assessed whenever a payment is missed. Once again see your credit card agreement YOU signed. Niether WFNNB or the client is under no obligation to waive or credit any late fee's. Only under special circumstances, for example return mail on the account. Now of course if there is a mistake on behalf of either company then LFs are credited back. Now onto e-statements. No one at either WFNNB or the client just randomly decides to sign an account holder up on web statements. Account holders have a habit of setting up an online account and select to receive e-statements without realizing it. Then they like to blame it on the company for some reason. Now ask yourself, does that sound right?

Moving on. Third Parties. Third parties are companies client's allow to solicit business to their account holders. 90 percent of the time account holders agree to the solicitation with out reading what they are agreeing to (sound familiar statement complainers?) The matter should be taken up with the individual third party and not WFNNB or the client as the third party will notify both companies and then they will clear any fees depending on the siutation.

There is a lot more information that I can give and I will be returning from time to time to answer any questions and misconceptions people have regarding WFNNB.

I have never heard any collector sending out statements. It is usually up to the debtor to act in a proactively responsible manner.

*If* the collector does break the law (some do) then talking about it anonymously on a public forum does no good at all, the proper complaints need to be filed. And the Federal trade Commission, in their annual report to Congress on the complaint system, does say that many of the complaints it receives are actually not against the law at all. One of the complaints they specifically mentioned was that collection account tradelines were not being removed from the credit report after paying the collector. Which they won't be, until the SOL is passed.

Got a notice in the mail and When calling the 800 number to opt to be taken off their list, they ask for an account number?? don't have don't know and then they ask if you don't have an account number they ask for your nine digit SS number to which I hung up. They are a fraud and be cautious. No one should ask for your SS number over the phone.

I missed one payment and the calls started two to three times a day. I was told by one lady to pawn my jewelery I had purchased from Friedman's (they had some deal with them for credit card) and when I asked where can I take my jewelery to be fixed I was told to make a payment and she would tell me. Friedman's closed a year ago declared bankruptcy so I'm sure they got paid already. No need to press one for english.

I tried to settle with them and they said no they wanted the full amount. And after agreeing to send half on the first and the rest on the 15th I got two phone calls asking for a post dated check for the first. Today is the 29th.

World Financial Network National Bank called my personal cell phone today from a 614 (Columbus, OH) # asking for my mom! I'm an adult with a family and my mom has never used my cell # or even been on a cell phone plan with me. The lady identified herself with the bank but I don't think she left a name. She asked me to have my mom call her at 1 800 323 9135 ext 6345. Last month I got similar calls from California, but I never let them get any farther than asking for my mom. I just told them they had the wrong number. This time, since it was a Columbus #, closer to where I live, I got curious.

Correction. 214 area code is in fact Dallas, not Ohio.

Yes, we do. Depending on your tone of voice and the lateness of the account. A little courtesy when speaking with a collections agent will get your further then aggression. We're people too.
Well I know from first hand experience that out of the three people I talked to at WFNNB, all three were jerks. And the most hilarious thing is, the instant I found out that my check wasn't received, I immediately wanted to pay the whole account off, not just the minimum payment. I stated that RIGHT UP FRONT. But since I was taking to a debt collector and me telling them that I didn't receive any calls (they said they called four times, but I only received the one call, and a manager later confirmed that they show nobody answered - which is so odd since I have voicemail) that they should check their calling system. They proceed to tell me that the calling is irrelevant. And start being nasty to me. Why are they arguing with me?

Because they beleive I am a liar. That is why. They do not even give me the common courtesy of being nice. One of them hangs up on me while I am explaining why it should be important to check the system for all of their other customers. Wouldn't being able to actually reach people increase the bottome line for their stockholders? JESUS!

So making sure the calling system is irrelevant? Well if they don't care about their own stockholders, do they care about their clients? Not in my case. I mailed a check and it wasn't received. Because it wasn't received I am now the same low life no-payer that they deal with all day long making excuses (even though I stated I was now paying the bill in full - which I already did but it never cleared).

My original purchase was about $63. Two months later my bill is now $106. I do not ask them to take off a late fee, even though it is the first time I EVER used that account. All I want from them is to check their calling system. They could have even just said "Sure maam we will have someone look right into that for you." and never done a damn thing but instead, they want...no NEED....to piss me off. It's like it was in their blood.

THEN, after I am just like, screw this, I will just never use the card again (thinking that to myself) I'm like let's just get this paid and get on with our lives. They want to charge me a $10 "express payment fee" to take my payment over the phone! I was like, um, when is my payment due again without further charges? They were like 20 days from today.

Why screw me out of $10 more on an original $63 purchase when I could have just re-mailed a check? Why not inform me of that so I can make an educated choice? NO - instead they wanted the money right then, didn't want to tell me about any options, I had to ask so many questions to get info out of them that they told me I was "just talking in circles" and had clearly had no intention of paying the bill.

I don't know now if I ever will pay it now because I am so aggrivated. I think it might be worth having one bad thing on my credit. I think I will write in to the credit bureaus and make them put a narrative of the account. I serously doubt that balance would stop anyone else from issuing credit to me, not that I would need it. I already have two cards with a combined limit of over $25,000 and no balance. I only got this card in the first place to save 15% on my purchase, which was clearly a stupid thing to do since now it actually cost me almost double the original price.

I'm calling the actual store that I purchaced at and letting them know about my experience with this creditor. If they don't care, then I will NEVER buy from that store again and I will tell EVERYONE about my experiences.

I was also sitting here wondering exactly HOW MANY PEOPLE have unwittingly paid that extra $10 for no good reason simply becuase they had no idea that they had a choice.

Please forgive my typos and ranting, I'm clearly still upset.

I keep getting phone calls and asked to call a toll free no. 1-800-888-9265 but when I call that no. I get an automated system and I am asked to give a nine digit account no. but I have no idea what they're talking about and I never get a chance to talk customer service, because they just keep repeating the same message. What can I do to stop this, they always call during the day while I am work so I never get to answer the call.
