For five years, when I moved into my house, I was harassed by all kinds of bill collectors because I inherited a number that belonged to someone who defaulted. It was aggravating, because they did not beleive that I did not know the person they were looking for. Eventually, it got so bad, I had to find out my rights, and threaten to sue. They stopped after that.

Collection agencies are scum bags. They rarely follow the law and they prey on people's ignorance. They do not care who they are talking to. My brother is the biggest dead beat, but some how he keeps getting credit card offers and taking them. My poor parents, they get these calls and have been getting them for 20 years!!

I know me personally, I would never talk to any one over the phone in this regard. If they really want something, they will sue me and have me served. Then, I will show up to court with my attorney and have them handle everything.

Get this book, and read it.. from what I am hearing, so many laws have been violated, that you can end up on top

Debtors Rights, by Gudrum Maria Nickel, Arrtoney at Law

I used this book numerous times.

These people are hounding me with several phone calls a day and asking for a person who does not & never has lived here. I've told them that several times. They asked for that person's number, but how can I know some unknown person's number? Still, they call, at 8 a.m. & again at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. I do not know how I can get them to quit.

Send them a Cease & Desist letter, Certified Mail, return receipt Requested. If they call you again after you get back the green card, sue them and collect your $1,000. In the meantime, file a complaint with the FTC, the FCC, the Bureau of Consumer Affairs, your State Attorney General, etc.

They can only get away with it if you let them.

Out of curiosity I called the 214# and it was some kids cell phone in god knows what state. He said he's been getting all kinds of weird calls. I called back the 800# and left a message that I was returning a call.
So my question I guess is, has anyone else experienced this? Is this CA calling and routing the caller ID through other peoples phone numbers? Can they do that?
And who else does this CA represent because I can't think of who they would be at this point?
