Consumers' complaints against World Financial Network
Several consumers have complained against this company in the DebtCC forums. Here's what they have said about World Financial Network National Bank.
- Fraudulent approvals: Consumers suspect that the company makes fraudulent credit approvals. They say that the company offers credit card accounts even when consumers have just been hit with a negative entry on their credit reports. Learn more...
- Harassing those without an account: The company is said to harass consumers having no credit accounts with them. Instead of calling the actual debtor, World Financial Network National Banks calls wrong numbers and harasses people for payment. They even call consumers at odd hours of the day and inquire about unknown persons and their contact numbers. Find out more...
To tackle the creditor, consumers now maintain a record of their calls. They feel that the only way to tackle the company is to identify their calls and keep talking to them without using profanity, unless they hang up the phone. - Sending automated request for Social Security number (SSN): One consumer reports that he has received voicemail from the company asking for a payment. When he called back, the recording asked for his Social Security Number (SSN). He hung up the phone instantly, but a few days later a company representative called and insisted that he make a payment over the phone with the consumer's American Express card. The consumer hung up the phone but he later on verified with American Express that they had no dealings with World Financial Network National Bank. Learn more...
- Sending mails with privacy statements: World Financial Network National Bank (WFNNB) often mails privacy statements to those who do not even have an account with them. They even send letters to non-customers requesting them to provide information on their accounts with WFNNB. Learn more...
- Unauthorized withdrawal: Customers have complained that the company makes unauthorized withdrawals from their checking accounts. Find out more...
- Insisting that payments be sent by phone: Customers complain that the company intentionally asks debtors to send in their payments by phone and not by mail. That's because the company can earn additional $10 or more through phone payment. Find out more...
- Not responding to customer calls: The company calls individuals repeatedly, especially at their workplace and asks them to call a toll free number. Once a customer calls the number, he receives an automated message repeatedly asking for a nine digit account number he doesn't have, and cannot get in touch with a live person. Learn more...
Positive feedback about the company
In spite of so many complaints against World Financial Network National Bank, the company has received some good feedback as well. For instance, a customer has an account with the company through a store named Dressbarn. He receives statements from the store but makes checks payable to WFNNB-Dressbarn. He doesn't mail the payments, but he pays at the store directly. Once he did forget to make a payment on time and called the company to find out what to do. However, the representative at the company seemed very gracious and he even waived off the late fee.

I GOT ONE TOO.
The best information I could find (I have no credit cards with the World Financial Network National Bank). The best I can think of is an old card I used once with the Limited. I've also seen Victoria's Secret associated, Ann Taylor, and a few others. If you read through that statement, you have to object in writing to a number of specific things in there- my life is too short to read the entire thing but it includes a dollar fee for every paper bill they send you, agreement to arbitration, consent to information sharing, relinquishment of your first born child, etc.
A letter has to be sent within thirty days of something (what? I have no postmark on my bulk mail). Anyway, every person on the account must sign a letter refusing any or all of it and if you want a contact person, the man ultimately responsible is:
Ivan Szeftel ??? Executive VP & President, Retail Credit ServicesI believe he's at:
17655 Waterview Parkway
Dallas, TX 75252
which is the address for Alliance Data Systems, Inc., the parent company of World Financial Network National Bank.
Incidentally, he's said to be 55 and receive $475,000 salary and $75,560 in bonus, though I'm unsure what year that information is for.
(NICE!)
Just received a notice of "change of terms" on my "Maurices Credit Card." Addressed to me personally. Look scum suckers, I do not, and, never have had such a card in my life. I have never had any dealings with your organization. I have 3 credit cards with major banks all paid up in full every month. I do not have any store cards. So go and take a jump.
Recently I received a notice from WFNNB stating that they became the new creditor on my Fashion Bug Credit Card account. I had a FB Credit card years ago, never used it and shredded the card a long time ago. Three foot long paper notice with tiny print describing terms and agreements which included: "If you do not comply with your obligations under this agreement, you agree to pay all attorney fees, collection costs, court costs, that we incur."
Very threatening. They also wrote that they may disclose information about me to basically anyone that they want to including my insurance company, non profit organizations, retailers, direct marketers, publisher, etc. They wrote that if I wanted to cancel my credit card, I would have to cut it in pieces and then send the pieces to them with a letter telling them why I wanted to cancel.
So I called the numbers on the paper for customer service. Before I could speak to anyone, I was asked for my social security number.
Another number just takes you around in circles.
So, I called Fashion Bug customer service. Again they asked for my social security number. Hung up. Then, I called fashion bug number for placing an order. I told the man that I was not placing an order and that I just wanted to cancel a credit card. He asked for the last 4 digits of S.S. no. Then transferred me to someone who canceled the account.
Then got a message on my voice machine home phone. someone from WFNNB telling me that they are returning my call ?????? I called them back spoke to someone and told them off. Asked why they did not have a website, yet there were other WS devoted to complaints about them, etc. Extremely rude ignorant idot goes on to defend the bank acting like she knew it all. Tried to tell me the laws, etc. I could go on but I have already written a book on here.

Evidently you carry my account with Catherine's.
Today I received your two long page change to my agreement as a cardholder. Have no interest in reading the changes - just asking a little much, as I am not an attorney - and will cancel my account with my next payment.

im really confused to the last few posts, carol this site doesnt hold accounts? its a debt forum.
I have been attempting to apply for a OneStopPlus VISA. I wonder if your company has started to accept PO boxes? That is all I have at this point. I cannot receive mail at my residence because I have a fence and the post office will not deliver mail because of it.
Thank you!

I received notice that you are my new creditor of my Lane Bryant credit card. I would like to cancel that account, but I was never given an actual card by the store. Please advise me and let me know how I can cancel this account. Thank you for your time.
Yours Sincerely,
Mallory Sanderson
