I went to school at the Art Institute of Seattle and my student loan monthly payments are way to high for me and Im late on my payments for them. I want to consolidate my private loans so that I can pay a smaller amount. I able to pay 300 per month on my payments. Also the intrest rates are too high for me as well. I dont want this to ruin my credit.

Hi Maggie,
I just answered this question for someone else. I did a little research about private loans. Basically the only option that private loan students have is to basically consolidate/refinance and try to seek out a lower payment. Here is the direct link explaining options for consolidation for private loans.

Just please be aware that this site is being sponsered by citibank and they have just recently been exposed as 1 of the worst offenders along with Sallie Mae for offering the very worst loan options for the students.
"Student Loans
When Student Lenders Compete, N.Y. Wins
Colleges and college aid officials have been funneling their students to big banks like Sallie Mae and Citibank in exchange for cash, gifts and in-kind benefits, according to a series of recent public investigations, the most energetic of which is being led by New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo."
If you can sort through this next link you will see where I have several links to news stories reporting on the very worst lenders for students to work with.

So whatever you do.....do not turn to citibank or Sallie Mae for refinancing. I hope this information helps some.
