i got a student loan 8 years ago from a private company with a cosigner,since then the private firm has went bankrupt,,it then went to wells fargo,,and now that i have defaulted,has went to a wells fargo collector,,my question is can they still go after my cosigner? thank you

I think that they can go after your co-signor not for sure 100% though, hold on someone will be along shortly to assist you.

They can most definately go after your co-signor. Private student loans are commonly sold and the terms of the original note never changes.

I am a servant of Sallie Mae. I have 8 loans with them and pretty much work for them now. Its depressing but it was my stupid mistake that got me into this mess in the first place. I'll make do but it hurts every month when I sign that check. Embarassed

Keep signing the checks, for each one you sign you are that much closer to financial freedom from your student loans. If I didn't look at it that way, I'd probably scream and cry once a month.

I'm a servant of AES/TERI, it kills me when I have to pay those high amounts every month and can't get any forebearance because they are private and don't have to do anything (it sucks and isnt right but its their terms and I agreed to them when i signed the loan)

I should add that they tend to go after your co-signer more frequently then they do you. If I'm so much as a day late with a payment, my co-signer gets like 4-5 calls a day from AES/TERI yet they rarely call me.

My co-signor gets repeated phone calls daily also, if it is not there on the 28th they start calling. PIA if you ask me.

I once told the guy they were worse than the mob (LOL), no seriously you have to make sure that you pay it on time or call them ahead of time so they can make a note in your file about it.

Hi, I am a cosignor and I have to say I get alot of flack before my bf does. He doesn;t get phone calls or anything? I do and they are always wanting to know the dates and amounts of when I can pay..this is thru Key Bank?
