Debt Management and Student loans Question

Is there a debt management company who will include student loans. I know there has to be at least one that isn't a total scam.

I'm juggling a small fortune in student loan debt and have been considering a dmp because I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to juggle alone.

Are these federal or private student loans?

Most student loans want nothing to do with debt management companies and in reality, you never want anyone else to handle these types of debts for you. You need to keep your thumb on top of educational debt.

Questions.....have you consolidated your federal debt? Are you taking advantage of the different payment options your lenders offer?

Have you read over your lenders website for information?

You would be luckier to owe the government.....you have many more options, including income contingent repayment.

With private loans, they are under no obligation to give you any reduced payment. They might give you one for awhile but at most 2-3 years. If you default, it is only a matter of time that they will sue you, even if you are making payments.
They are also nondischargable in BK.

Best thing you can do with private loans is get extra job and pay them off as quickly as you can cause if you dont, they will make your life miserable.

Soaplady's right, private loans are a @#$%^. A few years ago i took some out without doing any research or reading the fine print and now i'm paying for it. I just recently went back to school but they denied me deferment so I have to shell out $700 a month.

IF you know someone who has excellent credit and is willing to cosign, you should be able to consolidate those private loans. But that's your only option. Go to the 'additional income' folder and read about all the different ways you can make some extra money to help pay your bills.
