I recieved a letter for the intent to initiate garnishment, however I have no job and I'm currently a student. The debt is from the Department of Treasury and is not a result of defaulted student loans. I'm wanting to know 2 things.
1) will it show up on credit report? I'm pretty sure from my research that it will not, but I wonder if after some length of time not getting any garnishments will the agency pursue a judgement?

2) Will it have any impact on receiving future student loans?

Thank you in advance

It may become difficult for you to get student loans in future. You may check out the following url to get some useful information:

The OP's debt has nothing to do with a defaulted loan but some other federal debt.

You should not have any problems getting a student loan.
