Was this a federal or private loan? With federal loans, you are entitled to income sensitve payments. With private loans, they will lower you payments temporarily, usually for a year but then your payments will go up.

Has your student loan been pretty current or did you go into default with it? Just wondering because that is who my brother's student loan was through, so was just wondering.

No it was a private loan. I just explained to them I am totally disabled and only get XX amount of dollars a month and didn't want to refinance it so they reset the whole term. (I have only been 4 days late making my payments and have never gone beyond that 4 days and never ever 30 days, perhaps that helped?)

I have the papers that I have to sign along with my co-signor but even though it will cost me more in the end to me it's worth it right now at this time. Hopefully in about a year I will be in a better financial shape and will be able to go back and pay them alot more but for the time being this is just fine for me. Laughing

I am just glad to get some $ relief at this time.
